If you are so concerned about accuracy then why are you voting No against changing the title to "It" and instead claiming it should be "It!" (with the exclamation mark).  There is no exclamation mark in the title.  Since it's been the word of the week, I'll say it... you've made up fictitious punctation marks and are claiming they should be part of the title.  How is this helping the database be more accurate?

Seems like a good time to point people to my signature    Fortunately Ken seems to know "ease of use and entry" are important to his customers as well.

Thanks Ken!

I knew you were not one interested in accuracy, but in pure and total fiction, Rick.

skipnet50 : The possessive does not belong, CORRECT but the title is It!

Skip's US Copyright lookup has failed him.

He's going by this listing for the title of "It!"
Quote:

Copyright Claimant: Derek Rose, 1971-
Date of Creation: 1995
Authorship on Application: producer, director, writer & editor: Derek Rose.

But the real listing reveals "It" to be the title:

You still have not explained your insistance for It!, when, as demonstrated by Senor Cellophane, even the US copyright office disagrees with you. A real adult would admit their mistake and move on.

Um, okay.  Well then how about explaining how you determined the title of the movie to be "It!" ?

As has been pointed out numerous times in this thread.  There is no exclamation mark in the title.  Not on the original book's title, not on the DVD cover, not on the back of the DVD, and not in the film credits.

You voted No based on the claim of the title being "It!" so where did this come from?  Because it appears to be, as you say, "pure and total fiction".

You have a personal Shield of Denial made out of titanium! Not even facts from your beloved US Copyright lookup can penetrate it. I love it.

James:

It was not I who came up with US Copyright lookup. I still support, going by the title that you see on the front cover, that is what you look at when you take the title out, I don't look at the BACK COVER to see what the title is and I doubt anyone else does either. Nor do I favor the concept of I don't like the title this way (which is what this is REALLY about), so to AVOID that let's make it complex and let's look here, except that here is not always correct either, so then let's do it this other way and so on and so forth. I support ONE SIMPLE answer what you sees on the font cover is what you enter, without any dancing and without all the BS that people tried to throw in (including you) and ANYTHING else is a local issue, but you don't comprehend that answer or choose not to because you want the Onlone top be packaged to your preferences which are not unnecessarily complicating the process.

This is why i have largely ignore what you have to say these days, I have no time, patience or anything else for that kind of garbage.

Thanks for ignoring me again.

Why did you vote 'no' and say that the title should be It!?

At least you're not alone.  He either has me blocked or is ignoring me as well.  It's a very simple question and he just refuses to answer it.  Where did this magical exclamation point come from?  That's all.  Pretty straight forward question, really.

That is all well and good except for one thing...Ken doesn't agree with you.  Ken has said to look at the credit block on the back of the case to determine whether or not the possessive is part of the title.  That's the final word...as far as contributing goes.

As for this particular title.  You have made a huge mistake.  You looked up the film 'It', found 'It!' and voted 'no' claiming that the title of the film should be 'It!'.  The problem is, you didn't bother to check and make sure it was the same movie.

'It!' was written and directed by Derek Rose.
'It', the profile you voted 'no' on, was directed by Tommy Lee Wallace and based on the book by Stephen King.

Even if I were to agree with your interpretation of the rule, which I do not, you would still be wrong in this case.  Continuing to argue the point, and refusing to admit you made a goof, just makes you look like a fool.  I just don't get it.

Like I said, Unicus, James comments get completely dismissed, I screwed up and fixed it, I am not averse to admitting a mistake, i make lots of them. So do you and so does everyone.

However, I think the original Title, at least, should reflect the front cover title.
