On the other hand, if you mean select from the list of overdue DVDs, that is something that is probably easy to do. Let me know.

That's what I meant

PS: sorry for the delay, I was away from my computer for a long time
Ok, I made a good guess. V1.31 is available on my web site. Enjoy!

New in Release 1.31

  • Symbol substitution, such as %title%, identical to what is available for the email body is now allowed in the subject.

  • Error messages during email sending are more explicit, making debugging problems easier.

  • Error in sending one email does not abort the whole process, rather the user is given the option of continuing.

  • Checkboxes have been added to the displayed list of overdue DVDs, and checked by default. This allows for exceptions to be unchecked before the list is processed. Only the checked DVDs will be processed (emails generated).
  • Thanks for your support.

    Hi Jim (aka "mediadogg"),

    Ok, it works.

Ok, but for a better "readability", you might put the error message in the caption instead of title of the messagebox. In French, error message are a little long and don't completely appear in the title.

    Ok, works fine.

Ok, it works, ... but it could be easier if the checkbox is checked on a single click, even if it is not related to the current row.

A last comment, I thought emails were sent even if the "Run in Preview mode" is checked. I notice that it is not the case.
Maybe you could add a messagebox reminding that "Because you've checked the "Run in Preview mode" emails will only be displayed but not sent".
As I didn't received any test email I generated, I thought your plugin was blocked by my firewall and/or antivirus, but once I've unchecked the "Run in Preview Mode" it works

I hope my feedback will help you.

Absolutely! It's great to know both when stuff works and when it doesn't. Your suggestions are good. Will do next time. Thanks, I gave you a green "plus" rating. (BTW my original design was that preview mode would send, and you only got the first one in the list as an example, but sonehow over time, I must have disabled that feature - I don't remember why).

Hey again and sorry for the delay, but I've been away on vacation.

So now i have tried with another email without all the dots. ilducemorten@gmail.com
I have installed the latest version and it now says "cancel all sending?" YES - NO
If i press YES, it says "processing cancelled" if I press NO it just closes and does nothing....

What am I to do? I really would like this plugin to work

I'm truly at a loss, especially since I'm not getting that complaint from others. I think there are enough people using it that I would know if there were a bug affecting all / most users. I'll go back and re-read your prior posts where I hope you have shared details of your system environement, etc. and think some more. But at this point, I'm not even sure what questions to ask. By the way, there should be a more detailed error message in the latest version. I hope you are using that one - maybe we will get a better clue.
    Thanks for your support.

Did you try to put the email address into <> ?
    something like this <ilducemorten@gmail.com>

Or to put a full name before the email address, like this: "My User's Fullname"<ilducemorten@gmail.com>
(with or without a space char between the last quote and the < symbol.)

Let me know if it doesn't work and I 'll open a gmail account in order to test your settings

PS: I'm not sure of that but you don't need to have/use an email address provided by your ISP in order to use its SMTP server. Maybe you can try using your ISP default smpt server.

I'm not sure about the way you implemented SSL, but GMAIL said:
"Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encyrption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587. "
Maybe you can add a field for the SSL Port to use for encryption.

If you've read my prior posts, you would know that I just copied a web example and customized it. Most everything is defaulted, and I didn't focus a lot on the details - just cloned it - tested it - it worked (mostly) - people happy - quit!

Was this an explicit error message you got when running the latest version as I requested? Or was that a comment from GMAIL support?

Another question: Are you saying that SMTP must be enabled for encryption for GMAIL to work? If so, then I haven't a clue what the default is. I will check.

Edit: I have confirmed that I can set "use SSL" to true or false, but I'm not sure what the default is. Also, I see where I can also set the SMTP port. I will look into those changes soon, after you confirm the message received from the the most recent release (V1.31). Thanks.

Another edit: I just found a good example on the web for sending Gmail compatible with my code.

    Ok, try Release V1.32

Added option to set SMTP SSL port explicty, e.g. for Gmail.

I tested this on a Vista Home Premium system for which I have no email client working, so it was using smtp.gmal.com for outbound pop3.

In my case, it worked both for the default port (25) and the Gmail port (587), so I would assume that, at least on my system, SSL is enabled by default. At any rate, now you can explicity select it and set the port to anything you want, when "Use Default" is UNCHECKED, you can set it. Otherwise it runs as before.

I was commented the Gmail issue, not the last release you provided which is, in my opinion, very close to what I was looking for

"So close" because I couldn't read the error message, but I can guess it (but I didn't test your ultimate version..)

Don't worry, I love your plugin and I find it very usefull.
When I wrote "very close to what I'm looking for", I meant you've implemented all the features I needed.
Ok, it was a little bit "humouristic".

    hi mediaogg!

just to remember here is my question/suggestion for an update: When there is a user I borrowed more than one DVD, f.e. seven, and the DVDs are overdued, the User gets 7 eMails. Is it possible to make one eMail of it where all the seven DVDs are listed? This would be a bit nicer, no one wants to find a flood of these eMails in his inbox. One eMail would be enough, I think.
It would be nice to check out if this is possible for you to make.
But so far: thanks for the plugin

    greets

    Hello,

    Sorry for my bad english.
I try this plugin today for the first time and have a problem using it (on DVD Profiler 3.5) : the field "To" of the generated mail is filled with the username but not his email.

    Any idea or solution ?

I'm sorry to say this this plugin is not yet supported on 3.5.1.

If you get the same error on 3.1, I will address it immediately, otherwise, we will both have to wait until Invelos releases the 3.5 toolkit to plugin developers.

After saying that, I assume you have an email address in the user definition, right? That's where I get it from.
