| Posted: | | | | I am still buying DVD’s when I have the funds available and still using the desktop program and will continue for as long as I can.
I am currently doing a clean up on the UK side of the database to ensure that a profile has all the correct information where it is available (There will no doubt be some that still have missing information due to that info not being able to be verified correctly).
It is also allowing me to find any profile that is in the wrong locality that has not already been to be corrected. |

I'm also sad that nothing happens here on DVDProfiler. I'm a user since 2003 and bought the Windows, Android and iOS versions of the app. I didn't find any matching alternative... Hopefully DVDProfiler is available and usable for a long time. | | | I don't need a signature... |

| Posted: | | | | I´m still liking dvd-profiler a lot like it is. I dont need any new features - maybe this: a higher Cover-Resolution would be nice to be possible to read the information on the back-cover.
Otherwise I just add my new movies to the profiler and love to buy physical media still a lot in 2022. Streaming-Quality is still not on the same level in picture-quality and even more on sound-quality. As an owner of a small home-cinema with projector and a good surround-system physical media is still the way to go imho.
Had enough times where my internet-connection was offline - thats the times when you realise: streaming, online-banking and other ressources forced to the internet is pure hell. Imagine the internet in your country will be shut down for at least a week - pure chaos ;-)
Would you invest more money in invelos if they promise to add you feature-wishes? I would for sure <3 |

I would agree on increasing the resolution for cover images. I recently switched to a UHD monitor and have started to put 1000px wide images in my database which seems perfect. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but doubling the width of the images increases the resolution 4x similar to going from HD to UHD. However, the covers at that higher resolution are easily readable as if you're looking at the back of the actual case. |

| Posted: | | | | Hi everyone!
I was sending the link to someone and came across these threads and thought I would check them out!
I've never really used the website, but I love my DVD Profiler. I use the WIN Desktop version as well as the Android version for my phone. Best money I ever spent (twice too!)
I was actually surprised that Invelos is at least maintaining the website! I'm crossing my fingers that they will for many more years.
I would also be willing to put $$ towards keeping it going. I joined the Discord group under the name Trekky (like here). I'm also a member of that Facebook group. |

| Posted: | | | | I absolutely hate montly or annual fees, and avoid them wherever I can. But I would have no Problem with paying for an full Number update e.g. from 4.xx to 5.xx
I have DVD profiler since Vers 3.xx (don't remember exactly ehich one) and I still love it.. and I still buy DVDs and BDs. Especially Oldies and Classic Movies are hard to find in the streaming world. |

| Posted: | | | | I was wondering if the two Tools Titans, GSyren and DJ get together and cobble a "just in case" watered down version of Profiler? I'm too old and tired, but I would of course do whatever they asked to help out. It occurred to me that Ken / Family are actually giving us the lead time to do something like that. For whatever reason they have not responded to requests to sell or share the internals, but at least they have provided ample time for the community to fashion a lifeline before he / they are forced to shut down. I have absolutely no inside information. Merely conjecture on my part. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |

| Posted: | | | | Short answer: No. Long answer: There would be no point. As long as Invelos is up and running, there is no way that we could create an alternative client that would come anywhere near DVD Profiler. And even if we wanted to, we couldn't access the online database. And what's the point of an alternative client without an online database. The sad reality is that if (or when) Invelos goes down, we can either use DVD Profiler offline to just keep managing our local databases, or switch to an alternative program. Anyway, creating something like an alternative client would be an enormous task, and even if I do have too much time on my hands I doubt that I would live long enough to see it completed. | Posted: | | | | Way way back, I recall making a proposal for "gold profiles" or something like that.
It was based on a very handy mechanism that profiler has built-in: Profile files.
A very simple "cloud" would be a repository of approved profile files, indexed by title, profile ID, etc.
Management of the profile files including updates, mapping to a web presentation (pHpProfiler), automated backups, etc. could be performed by a set of special plugins running on a cloud copy of DVD Profiler, whose database is in fact the master database. The plugins could control upload / download of profile files, either approved or pending, as well as user interfaces for the profile approval process by screeners.
Crude, yes, but relatively easy to implement without a lot of sophisticated coding. Everything based on essentially the desktop version of profiler. | | | Thanks for your support. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but doubling the width of the images increases the resolution 4x similar to going from HD to UHD. However, the covers at that higher resolution are easily readable as if you're looking at the back of the actual case. I've been doing the same since DVD Profiler was first made available. At the time I was running dual CRT monitors at 1600x1200. These weren't the flat CRT's either. They still had a slight curvature to them. Eventually I upgraded to a couple flat CRT's. Faster forward to today and I run dual DELL 24" UltraSharp LCD monitors at 1920x1200. So that vertical height has remained consistent over all this time. The height of the cover images I use has remained consistent all this time as well. From day one I found the cover image size inadequate that DVD Profiler uses, i.e. the image size used by the Invelos online database. (Data storage was to be had at a premium compared to today which I'd imagine is one of the reasons for this.) As such, I made an effort to always use my own cover images if possible. The moment I downloaded a profile I locked the entire profile down for use locally, then replacing the cover images. In this case I decided to go with cover images that were 1034 pixels in height. A few examples from my 1920x1200 desktop shown below. From DVD Profiler for Windows...(Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.)From my phpDVDProfiler based website...(Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.)From the MyMovies Collection Management application...(Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.)Running a desktop at 1200 pixels in height I continue to find covers at 1034 pixels in height to be the perfect size. To each his own naturally. For my use case the cover art is able to be viewed at full size without the image needing to be scaled up or down (...no scrolling involved), enough room left to spare for the application/browser it's displayed in, including the Windows taskbar. Even the smallest of text can easily be read at this image size. In fact, when in my home theater I project My Movies for Windows Media Center at 150" diagonal. Sitting 16 feet away from the projector screen I can still read the smallest of text on the back cover images. Yes, I heard this UHD is a thing, but I still find HD more than adequate, especially in the Windows environment where I'm able to comfortably read text (with no scaling involved) while at the same time running my monitors at their max resolution, the DPI in Windows still set to 100%. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection |

OK, I have DVDProfiler installed on a spare computer, with just 30 profiles in the local database that I use for test purposes. As suggested, I cut my internet connection and tried to add new titles. I am able to add new profiles to the collection by using the "Add by UPC" function within the program, I just make sure I uncheck the "Download profile from Invelos" checkbox. |
