I've a submission up that someone has voted against as they get different results when using the same bit of software (VSO Inspector) to check the discs' (there're two of them in the set) region coding.  Their result is in line with previous seasons of the TV programme (Regions 2 & 4), whereas mine is not (Region Free, 1-8).

However, I've just checked my copies again and they still come up as region free. I definitely don't have AnyDVD (or anything that like that) running.

If I switch AnyDVD on and off it makes no difference to what VSO Inspector reports, just the disc IDs change.  I've asked the individual to check if his discs have got the same ID as mine.  I've also just tried copies of a couple of other discs that do have region limitations to try and make sure VSO Inspector is working okay and it shows their region limitations correctly, (region limited with AnyDVD off and region free with AnyDVD on).

Has anyone come across anything like this before or has any suggestions as to what else I might check at my end that might be causing me to get an incorrect result?  I don't have a non UK region disc player I can try them in.  The only other thing of note is that the first disc does struggle a bit to start playing; my computer's disc drive needs a few goes and the disc has to be spotless for it to read it.

Just to add.  The exiting profile in the online database has different disc IDs to mine; (the narrative part is identical but the number are different).  I'm guessing mine could be a pirated copy, but if so it's perfect, right down to the embossed covers, case material and printing quality, and matching the style of previous seasons.  It even smells the same!

Then it's merely a different pressing, and then it isn't inconceivable that it has different region coding. Now if you had the exact same Disc ID's but still detected different region coding, *that* would be strange. But when the Disc ID's are not the same, then the region coding doesn't have to be the same either.
