| Posted: | | | | Here's the scenario I've encountered:
1) I created a custom DVD title to group movies of a certain franchise together. In this case, I called it X-Men [Franchise]
2) I have several child titles added to this parent title, which include X-Men: First Class, X-Men, Days of Future Past, and X-Men Trilogy. (The latter title itself is a parent and has three child titles under it: X-Men, X2: X-Men United, and X-Men: The Last Stand)
4) I have changed the Sort Title of each of these to include a number preceding the title, so that the titles are shown in order of their Production Year. This worked fine, except the X-Men Trilogy was on the bottom of the list and each of those child titles were on the bottom of the list, but they were chronologically released BEFORE the other two titles.
My workaround for this was to include a "zero" before the Sort Title for X-Men Trilogy, so that it showed first under "X-Men [Franchise]" and then the other titles showed under it.
My question is, do I have to do this workaround? Is there a way to change the sort criteria to include, for example, Title (Ascending) AND Production Year (Ascending)? |

| Posted: | | | | Here is what I would do for sort titles. I believe in keeping them simple.
If the box set comes first:
Sort titles: "X-Men 00" for the box "X-Men 01" for the first film "X-Men 02" for the second film ... "X-Men 05" for the fifth film etc.
What I have done for my Star Trek series sort titles is similar. Here are some examples:
Star Trek original series: Season 1 box: "Star Trek A1" Season 1 disc 1: "Star Trek A11" Season 1 disc 7: "Star Trek A17" Season 2 box: "Star Trek A2" Season 2 disc 3: "Star Trek A23"
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Season 1 box: "Star Trek B1" Season 1 disc 4: "Star Trek B14"
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 3 box: "Star Trek C3" Season 3 disc 5: "Star Trek C35"
etc.

| Posted: | | | | A similar suggestion:
Star Trek the original series Season One box: "Star Trek: 01.01.00" Season One disc 1: "Star Trek: 01.01.01" Season One disc 4: "Star Trek: 01.01.04" TNG Season One: "Star Trek: 02.01.00" TNG Season One disc one: "Star Trek 02.01.01"
I prefer to use colons and a full stop to sort my titles. |
