Well, was going to open this new thread a while ago, but, never got around to it. And, have now passed 22,000.

Still haven't found a way to break this bad habit. Must need an intervention!

Well, I taken this mess in a new direction. About a month ago, I upgraded my theater with a new Epson 5040ub projector and a Yamaha RX-A3060 receiver, and a Samsung 4K player. Projector is great .... 4K and 3D, and 2D to 3D. So .... now I've begun gathering up 3D movies. In last 3 to 4 weeks, have added 61 3D titles, and another 14 on order, coming in this week.

Could it get any worse? .... yes, if I get a wild hair and start on 4K ...

Congratulations on the 5040ube. Stunning machine with 4K and also up scaled. See my saga on the Home Theater thread.

When my budget allows, I want to upgrade my receiver. I have complicated switching arrangement and using Oppo as 4K bridge at the moment. Works a treat, but it takes me 5 minutes to remember which buttons to press for a given source and target.

So I would be interested in your experience / opinion on the Yamaha. My experience is with Onkyo, but I am open to explore and study other options while I pile up enough coins to make a move.

I've been using Yamaha equipment over the past 30 years or so ... currently have 3 in use around the house, with another 3 back in their original packing. Guess you could say I've been happy with Yamaha.
I also use Carver power amps on front end.
Currently using a DaLite 150" fixed screen.

Carver??? Are you kidding? Wow, I didn't know they still sold equipment. I have actually been to presentations by Bob Carver to our Audio Society in my home town - 10 billion years ago!

I still have a Carver Magnetic Field Amplifier / Receiver in my attic. It was given to me by a dear friend. It was owned by his Dad who has since passed away. Haven't felt like messing with eBay, so if you want it for the price of shipping, send me a PM.

Be aware that the tuner has massive issues. I have tried to clean the motherboard contacts, but it still plays only for a few minutes and then static. But the amplifier seems to work like a charm. Classic Carver power and sound.

If the tuner worked, I would keep it. For the few minutes it plays, that silky sound reminds me of my old McIntosh MR78 (sigh ...).

Meanwhile, here is a sketch of my system a/v connections (forgot to add the PC). When I get the Power Point version finished, I will replace the hand-drawn diagram with Power Point.

Thanks, but I still have 2 other Carvers in their boxes and debating about throwing them on the surrounds and rear effects speakers.

Just took a look at the Yamaha reviews. Looks really good. It makes it hard to maintain financial discipline and not overspend. Sigh ...

Waiting for my replacement 5040UBE. Yes, the original one died. No warning. Just one morning it was lifeless. No lights anywhere. Tried a new power cord, followed the troubleshooting guide. No luck. Thanks to Epson customer support and warranty, looking for FedEx later today.

With my 4K switching issues, I have been doing a lot of manual plugging / unplugging of cables. Could that have been the issue? Anybody with experience damaging equipment from HDMI connections?
Thanks for your support.

I have a question...

Do you add the the blu and the dvd from the same movie slip cover as a separate? I been trying to figure if I should do that. I only separate them if there is different movies inside, and only for the past 2,000 or 3,000 Slip covers.

Majority of my discs are DVDs. Challenge I've had is many of the discs I'm entering are not in the DB, and I accept the Blu Ray that's there. I'm mostly interested in having the title in my data base. I try to change them at later times. My Blu Ray 3D collection has multiple versions, but I'm only counting the 3D disc. I already have the DVD version in the collection.

Thanks, even though I had this program for so many years. I still don't know how to organize the extra discs. If I don't enter them I think they won't show in the collection. I think I will enter them with the same number but put them so only count the main disc. Regards!

From the Contribution Rules:

"Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) are to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example), with all included media types checked. A combo which includes HD media (HD-DVD, Blu-ray) as well as DVD should use the details from the HD media in the main profile. However, you may add an additional profile by Disc ID for the DVD content and add this profile to the Box Set contents for the Blu-ray profile."
