| Posted: | | | | Hey guys,
I'm going to write a plugin that can store more detailed purchase informations.
Fields I currently have in mind are:
Price in original currency (+selectable currency field) Shipping costs (+selectable currency field) Custom fees (+selectable currency field) Credit Card fees (+selectable currency field) Discount (+selectable currency field)
What would you like to have? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | For me personally, the first three fields would do just fine, since I have yet to encounter a case where I have to pay credit card fees and since to me the discount results from deducting price paid from SRP. Of course, fellow users' mileage may vary. Many thanks for your efforts! |

| Posted: | | | | Somehow I doubt such an offer would attract a lot of customers... Now, if it were get 4, pay for 3, I would divide the sum of 3 by 4 and enter that in the Price Paid field. |

Now, if it were get 4, pay for 3, I would divide the sum of 3 by 4 and enter that in the Price Paid field. That's what I do as well, but it basically means that you got either a 25% discount (in relation to the sticker price) on all four discs or a 100% discount on one disc. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Several of your original ideas go into a category that economists would characterize as "transaction costs". These costs (shipping, customs, credit card fees) do not add to the value or utility of the thing purchased. You simply have to pay them. I've recently had to deal with this problem in terms of sales tax, since moving from Rhode Island, USA, to Massachusetts. That is because Amazon doesn't collect sales tax from Rhode Island residents (even though the state has a 7% sales tax), but does from Massachusetts residents (6.25% tax), where it has "nexus" (physical operations, plant and equipment). If I'd moved just an hour farther north, to New Hampshire, Amazon wouldn't collect a sales tax as the state has none. (It also has no state income tax!!) So your plugin would allow me to account for sales tax as a separate item. Unfortunately these taxes are hidden in countries where the VAT / GST is hidden in the price of the item. I also make many purchases with Amazon's "rewards points", so I'd love come up with an intelligent way of accounting for them ... |
