This request reflects the discussion in this thread.

Presently, on pure BluRay profiles one cannot set the anamorphic ('enhanced for 16x9') check box or the NTSC/PAL radio button, as these are irrelevant for BluRay disks.

However, for combo packages with DVD('s) included as secondary media disk(s), once DVD is checked in the General tab in the Edit window, one can edit these on the Features tab.

This is inconsistent with the Invelos contribution rule that the features must (only!) reflect the main media disc, that is, the BluRay disk.

So the request is to disable these features for combo disk profiles (the main disk profile, not any child profiles).

Anyone who'd like to record the features for the secondary disk can of course create a child profile, which also allows for documenting different content like different features/audio tracks/subtitles etc. This is already hinted to in the rule.

As this is a technically 'easy' issue, could the online db be automatically cleansed for these incorrect details and could there be a check when contributing as long as the (local) program version isn't yet corrected?

Minor clarification concerning that other high res format: HD DVD. Here also combo releases with DVD have been there. However, the ones I own are single disk releases: one side DVD other side HD DVD. In these specific cases 'single disk HD DVD/DVD combo' the change request does NOT apply.

To my knowledge no single disk BluRay/DVD combo has ever been created. But if so, the same applies.

A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas in the US is actually a flipper, blu-ray on one side and DVD on the other.  There was some concern this would be a new trend by WB.  I also think that some of the US releases of the Bourne movies were as well.

Universal did use them briefly. The only one I have is for Sanctum, which is a flipper disc with the Blu-ray on one side, and DVD on the other side. It's in the database as a Combo with a DVD child.

I have a question.  In most cases in the combo pack the DVD is the same DVD that is in the DVD only pack.  Are we damaging the DVD's integrity if we make these changes?  I realize a lot of us have gone Blu but DVD profiles still deserve the same amount of scrutiny in my opinion.

In my experience new releases the DVD is pretty much the movie only, so sometimes it's the same disc, other times it's different.  Also in my experience, catalog combo packs reuse a previous DVD release.  Since I don't use the child profiles for combo packs I could be wrong, but I'd assume most profiles haven't been created by Disc ID yet so they would contain the release information of the blu-ray parent.  I'm sure there are probably some out there that were already profiled and contain the images, release data of the previous DVD.

Of course it applies, why shouldn't it? The DVD side is still only an optional child profile and its contents do NOT get mixed into the HD profile any more than any 2 movies on each side of a double sided disc would.

I'd agree with you as well, I don't think it matters if it is a flipper or a different disc all together, the Blu-ray should take precedent.

No, this won't damage the integrity of the DVDs as this only applies to the Blu-ray, parent, profile created using the combo pack UPC.  The DVD profile...created either by UPC or disc ID...won't be affected.

Don't forget that our beloved Disney does things both ways. They do bd/DVD combosand DVD/bd combos. As I recall they started this with Snow White, which I think had no less than 7 variants spread from about $20 to$150. The DVD/bd combos are packaged in an ordinary keep case, I supposethey do this to accomodate consumers who might want a uniform look to their collection. <shrugs>

If this is done, I'd like to see the filters altered as well so that a a search for non-anamorphic DVDs won't turn up a bunch of combos. I realize there are work-arounds, but you shouldn't have to use them.

No workaround needed, you can filter for that already, just uncheck Blu-ray and HD-DVD.

That's a workaround. If you filter for non-anamorphic DVDs, you should get a list of non-anamorphic DVDs, not non-anamorphic DVDs, plus combo packs with anamorphic DVDs. The easiest way to address this would be to separate out combo packs in the filter or have an option to include or exclude them.
