| Posted: | | | | A little thing that bugs me.
When sorting by the UPC, the database does not recognize the dash. I would like invelos to either delete the dash altogether or have it recognized by the database.
For example: When I am on the voting page and I want to look up the DVD I copy the UPC which comes up as 000000-000000 and paste it into the Select by UPC field.
The problem is the database can not find that DVD because of the dash so one has to delete the dash and enter just the numbers 000000000000.
If the database doesn't recognize the dash, why is it there? I know it is only a few extra clicks but I would like this to be fixed if possible. |

What puzzles me is that the 'Add by UPC' auto strips the dash and does recognize it. Seems odd that it would work in one area and not the other. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. What puzzles me is that the 'Add by UPC' auto strips the dash and does recognize it. Seems odd that it would work in one area and not the other. I agree that the dash makes it easier to read. The database on the other hand isn't human (at least I don't think so!) and readability isn't relevant. My request is that the program be set up so that the database recognizes the UPC when I copy it from one section and paste it in another. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

| Posted: | | | | I don't disagree with your request Kathy, I was just pointing out that the program recognizes it, with the dash, in once section, but not the other. Why that is, I don't know, but I do find it odd...it should work in both. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I'm hoping that it is was just an oversight and that it can be corrected. I know nothing about programming but it seems that this might be a simple fix. |

But I can tell you from experience that it is one of those "million and one" details that can slip by you - and I won't bore you with all the ways it can happen. Just keep track and remind Ken in the vicinity of the next Beta cycle, and it will more likely get fixed then. I think there is a buglist thread somewhere, right? If not, maybe we could use one ... just a way to make it easy for Ken to keep track. This should be a list of "nits and lice" instead of major functional enhancements. Sometimes a programmer needs a break and get some instant gratification by fixing a few easy things ... | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here.
