| | Posted: | | | | I like My Links to be sorted in a special way, so the links have the same order on every profile.
But if for example wikipedia has actually no site available for the profile I currently adding, I have to enter it later when somebody adds a site for it. But this will be set at the end of its block (general information). While all other profiles will have it at position four / five (german / english).
The only way now, is to delete all profiles and add them again..
So what I'd like to do, is move the links up / down inside their block - either by dragging with the mouse or by using cursor-keys (and maybe home / end). | | |  |

| | Posted: | | | | +1 Until then, maybe some of this will help you ... you can take a look and decide. I added some menus to LoadDVD for Export / Import of MyLinks and Online Links in CSV format. I didn't do any specific testing on sort order, but yiou could load a few into Excel and see if you can accomplish what you want by Importing in your sort sequence. You can also delete My Links in bulk from flagged profiles See here:Not sure what the timing of 3.8.2 is, but I have a My Links utility, separate from LoadDVD in mind that would have whatever handy features are missing from DVDP at that time. | | Posted: | | | | A fairly easy way to handle this is to go into Edit MyLinks, right-click Copy MyLinks. Go into Notepad, and paste. There will be a bunch of pseudo XML with link addresses. Order to your satisfaction, and Copy. Go to Edit MyLinks and Paste & Replace. Voila. The only downside (besides aggravation, I mean  ) is that the association with the Buttons (like Trailers Link and IMDb Link, etc.) are lost when you paste and replace. But there's only 4 buttons to redo, so it isn't so bad. | | | | -fred |

I agree. There are easy ways to do this. I don't see that the developers time need be taken with this. Something the user can handle themselves. I don't know how many links you put into your My Links section per profile, but on my side this can easily get over 25 links. And than these are no real alternatives. Except it would be as a plugin as mediadogg mentioned. | | | |

Except in this case, the development work is already done, because Ken was good enough to give us the tools ahead of time, and a healthy Beta cycle to see what features were coming. So I anticipated the need for some "bulk" My Links tools. Downside is for those people who have no other need for LoadDVD. That's why I forsee that I or somebody else will have a My Links utility soon, that fills the gap with stuff that Ken has not put in the base. In my case, I have considered putting in a spreadsheet like editor as a part of BulkEdit, or a totally separate tool. Maybe all of the above, depending on what Ken and other developers do or don't do. I just started with a vehicle that was easy for me, and hopefully provides a bit of useful tools. Seems most everybody can handle CSV, so I decided to use that format. Most people like options. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. @mediadogg: I haven't tested to see if the MyLinks filter locates profiles that contain only a hidden link; I'll have to test. I was more interested in making those links visible in the menus or the "Edit MyLinks" screen. | | | | -fred |

| | Posted: | | | | Well, a hidden link is a link that has no description. The in-program UI won't allow you to enter a link without a description, but if you Copy Online links, there tend to be a bunch of links without descriptions, and if you paste those into the Edit MyLinks window, in they go.
You can see them if you look at the Javascript code generated in an HTML window if you put <DP NAME=HEADER_VARS"> They appear with an empty description and a category of 0. The program maintains them, but doesn't display them in any of the UI that I've found (there may be places that I've missed, but I don't think so)
Near as I can tell, they arise from whatever code Ken uses to populate the "Copy Online" list. If I had to speculate, I'd say that they are links from the online list that don't have an icon.
I tend to edit them (between Copy Online and Paste&Replace into the edit Mylinks) to have a description of whatever the sitename is, and a category of 8 (which seems to correspond to Other).
I'm actually writing an HTML window that can perform a similar translation, but getting the category to align with the Online category. Sadly, I couldn't get it to work properly because of Javascript access errors, and I'm having to use a remotely hosted solution... | | | | -fred |

| | Posted: | | | | OK, thanks for the ifo. I didn't copy the online links by now, because I can't easily re-order them (the generated xml-code is really ugly). I just downloaded the online links for a profile and I see what you mean. You can also see them in the xml-snippet, if you paste it to notepad. And I think you're right about them. The online links without icon are all links which DVD Profiler doesn't recognize when adding by hand into My Links (which means the description is filled with windows-title and the category is not set automatically) - and they all get invisible. But as I see it, this is a bug and not a feature.  | | | |

Admittedly, notepad doesn't do that well (possibly at all) but i use vim and it works a treat. I don't disagree with you at all about it being a bug When I sniff the wire (I can be a little nosy ) I see that Copy Online is calling a webservice on invelos.com that returns only the URL. So the windows program is trying to figure out the rest from just the URL. That's going to miss all of the official sites, and fan sites and just about everything that isn't pretty mainstream. So I understand why it is that way. Since it is being maintained in the program, I expect that he plans to fiddle with it. Just putting in the website as a description and a category of other would go most of the way, I think ... | | | | -fred |

I thought DVD Profiler would get the online links as a XML-snippet, too. Moving all unknown links to others and adding second and top level domain (example.com) as description would be good enough for me. (Which could be done by a simple regular expression.) | | | |
