The way birth-years in general work is a huge pain, but it could be easier without overhauling the whole system. Fro instance, let's say you discover someone has a a wrong birth year or common name, so you need to change it. This can be a bit annoying in regular situations, but far more so if, for instance, the person in question is a television producer who also wrote quite a few episodes. You can end up replacing dozens of credits in a season.

I would like an option to replace all instances of a name in a profile (or group of profiles) with another name. This would make things so much simpler.

It would be a huge help in cleaning unneeded BY.

I've been wanting this for years.  It is incredibly annoying when you realize that you have a Sound Mixer that might have 40 credits in one variant and 50 in another and you need to manually correct them all.  If you can merge the names (which should switch all of the affected changes into a "Credited As" to maintain the correct credit list), it would reduce a lot of work.
