They also come from a time when the contribution mindset was completely different, since their were no rules and no contribution notes. Even the Sort title was contributed, which meant people entering their personal preferences like "Bond 01" rather than "Dr. No." So the locks were developed to keep information that shouldn't change (like a title) free from alteration. But the locks didn't account for changes to the type of information that could be found in a specific field. Now that we have a solid voting system, the on-line locks are no longer necessary. |
