Well you're right if it means just using the results of DVDInfo and BDInfo. I'm sure it wasn't simple for the guys who wrote it. So if you are saying that they have been determined to be correct, DVDPca should be OK, since I am using their code. If anybody notices any descrepencies, let me know.

If I am misinterpreting your point, please clarify.

Download here.

- Added suport for DVDP 3.8.1 XML Output
- Added support for independent color checkboxes
- Not compatible witth any prior version of DVDP

Note: The DVD and BD scans do not yet check for color information. I will try to add this later.

Special Notice:  The OCR Scan button was left activated by accident. This feature is still in development, is not complete and has not been fully tested. If you download before I get a chance to replace the file, please respect this notice.

Seems I have a problem... seems like DVDPca isn't even seeing an episode of a TV Series on this disc.

The disc is Married with Children: Season 3 Disc 2... It has 7 episodes on the disc... 4 on menu page 1 and 3 on Menu page 2. But when I go to check off all episodes to find total running time... it seems to only see 6 episodes... see image below...

Also see on the image above... it is reporting Featured Trailers, Feturettes and DVD Rom content... the only extras that even may be on the disc is hidden features of a clip from the reunion show. But don't know if that helps you fine tune the features section.

Of course if there is anything you need from the disc just ask I am happy to help out if I can.

Ok dokay, send me the zipped up IFOs and I will check it out. I think you have my address, if not PM me. Actually, if there are other small folders on the disc, send me everything but the VOBs. It is the scan of other folders on the disc that I am using to augment my guesses about what features are available.

Oh, and I see you are not using the latest version (for 3.8.1). Wanna give it a whirl? Let me know if anything improves, but actually I think that part of the code is unchanged.

I will compare with the original DVDInfo and also DVD Decrypter to see how they compare in finding the 7 distinct episodes.

Thanks to Addicted2DVD, I was motivated to go looking for a better IFO parser. I found one. It seems more accurate. The code is easy to understand, and it is already running.

So, over the next few days I will be replacing the IFO parsing engine with the new spiffy one. I'll probably want a couple of folks to give it a whirl before releasing it, so when it is ready, I'll let you know.

Drat! Got down to the innards after prepping for the switch, only to discover that there is no code for video - only audio. In my excitement, I missed that. So, now I have to somehow merge the two, or find a way to fix the existing one. So it will take a bit longer. I was expecting to be done by now.

Eagerly awaiting, whatever you come up with.

On a related note...

Yes, with BD maybe, but I neither own a BD drive, nor do I care much about BD. The fact is it doesn't work with DVDs, without analyzing the audio stream. And neither mediadogg, nor I can do anything about that. At least the Surround flag is identifiable with some tools, but that's not "simple", nor is there any simple way to identify "2.0 Mono", DD EX or DTS ES (can be matrixed or discrete) on a DVD.

So that whole discussion is utterly useless when it comes to DVD. I'm sorry, but I'm not the industry and I don't set the standards, so I can only point out what won't work and make us miserable.

*chants encouragement and praise*

You put a lot of time and work into these particular plugins. No one should "expect" this or any other plugin to be created unless they want to do it themselves. So, frankly, you shouldn't concern yourself. Take all of the time that you need. We can wait.

. . . . .  is it done yet?
