Did you maybe use a different Apple ID when you originally bought the app ?

Open the App Store app on your iPhone, go to Updates and look if the app is in the list of previously purchased apps. If it is, simply download from there. If not and you are sure that you bought it with the same Apple ID I would contact Apple's support.

for all my 2000+ apps i've always used the same apple ID, i've had this happen on a few apps since the app store launched, but other times i didn't care about the app, this one i want to use.

Like SilentBob said, you will have to contact Apple. They are in complete control of the App Store.

well, that i understand, but sometimes a developer will remove and old app, and submit a current app as a new app, instead of an update, and then we have to rebuy it.  is this what happened?

great, now apple support tells me that i should be able to redownload it, which i already know.  problem is they think it's a problem with the developer, so i guess i'm just going to run in circles and get nowhere with this problem

I don't think Invelos did anything here. After deleting the program the message about having to buy again is irritating, but if the product had been bought before no charges will be applied.

You can also just check in the iCloud section. This can also be found somewhere in iTunes. Your previous purchase should be in there. From what I can tell so far (what I read, not experience), the cloud even holds apps that were removed from the App Store by the developers (stuff Apple removed probably is also taken out of the cloud).

Good luck.

right, i understand that, but the issue is that now in the appstore apps you have purchased show INSTALL instead of the price.  i don't want to test it with 8.99 charge.  but, i did sync from my itunes library, and it works, and appstore shows it as installed so for now i'm good.

ok, so i just received another response from Apple Support, and they told me that the DVD Profiler app is a different one than the one i purchased a while ago, how can this be?  it seems my suspicions were correct, so do i really have to buy it again?

Only one DVD Profiler shows up in the App Store for me and it says installed so it's the same one that I installed last year.

I purchased the App when it was first released and it currently shows in the App Store as the same App I originally purchased.

That's what you want.  It's telling you that you already own it and can re-install if you wish.  It's the price you don't want to see.  That means you're going to be paying.

I'm not saying mistakes can't happen.  But over the past few years I've re-downloaded many, many, many apps and have never had an issue getting charged a second time.  It may take a few times till you feel secure, but eventually it's just second nature.

i understand this, i have about 2000 apps in my itunes library, most were purchaed.  i'm not new to this, there is a bug either in the store, or the app there is actually a different app from the developer with the same name.  in the past it would show the price, and i could click it, and it would tell me i have already purchased this item do i want to download again for free, i say yes.  now, the appstore shows the word install, which is great makes it much easier to do, but dvdprofiler shows 8.99, and i already bought it.  according to apple the dev submitted this as a new app, not an update to the current one, and this is why i have to pay again.  so is this true?  if so why?  if not why does apple think so?

i just don't understand, apple says it's the developers issue, the developer hasn't responded so who knows.

I am not sure I understand. The App Store shows "install", that's what you want since you already purchased it and you don't have to pay for it again, but then you say "DVD Profiler shows $8.99".

I don't see any other DVD Profiler app than the one I purchased a year ago and I installed it on my new iPhone 2 months ago and on another iPad last week without any problems.

what i'm saying is in the past the store would show the price, never install.  about 6 months ago, they changed this.

now, i goto the app on my idevice, and it shows dvd profiler, 8.99.  it should say install.  i sync it with itunes where i have the app already downloaded, then goto the app on my ipad, and it shows installed.  but according to apple the invelos submitted it as a new app and removed the old app, hence why i would have to pay 8.99 again
