Hello there....  A proposed suggestion to the Desktop Software and the Database:  A new entry field for Color.

In the General Information section, and within Video Format, an option that you can click to indicate if the movie or video is in Color or Black-and-White.  I would propose if an additional field could be created in this section for Video Color.  It could be a pull-down list that would indicate:

- Color (default)
- B&W
- B&W/Colorized
- Color and B&W

("Color and B&W" mostly applies to documentaries that feature film or television clips from different eras).

What do others think about this proposal?  Thanks for your repsonse!

I'm not opposed, but I don't think I'd like there to be a default setting.  About 80% of my movies are in black and white.

I also wouldn't care to characterize a color documentary containing black and white clips as "color and b&w".  I'd save that more for things like The Wizard of Oz.  I also have several black and white films with short color sequences within.  Would those be called "B&W and Color"?

I'd also like colour-tinted (Black & White films that have single colours applied across a scene).
They're still monochromatic (I'm not talking hand-tinted or colourised films).

I agree with this ^. I don't like how DVD Profiler currently defaults to NTSC for DVDs. I think any information we see should be verified, rather than a default.

As scotthm has indicated, it would require a fair bit of discussion to reach an agreement on terms. For now, I use tags.

Something else that will prove tricky will be releases like some of the Harryhausen Blu-rays, where you can watch the (original) B&W or the colourised versions (that is to say, both are available on the same disc).

I agree with that.
For the tricky part, maybe this could be a check list or a multiple-selection list (if that even exists!)
