I for 1 would like to have all this made easier and just do it by cable if possible. I am having a most difficult time trying to do it over the network and i still cant get it to work.

I think the usb cable would be the solution to all this ip address crap, firewall, port, static ip, having to go through all this when it could be made easier.

What do you all think??

Are you sure?  I have other apps where I can use iTunes to sync using the USB cable.  I don't believe it could sync directly with the main app however.  It would need to be some type of export loaded through iTunes then imported into the app.  Which of course wouldn't allow it to do a two-way sync like it currently does.

So, I think it's possible.  But it would be more hassle and you would lose some of the features you get with a wi-fi sync.

That's the only way - you have to use iTunes itself.  Apple won't let non-Apple apps talk to their Apple products directly through the USB connection.

Yes, this is correct.  So if you used iTunes, it would be a major hassle and certainly not the preferred method to sync if you have the wi-fi going.  But if it's the best you can do... I guess it's better than nothing.
