I tried searching for this, but as others have mentioned, it usually times out... anyway, is there a way to enter multiple copies of a DVD or BD? For example, I own more than one copy of a particular DVD, both having the same UPC; I own several anime volume limited editions with an artbox which includes the DVD regular volume, but also own the regular volume DVD without the artbox, so a duplicate. There are other examples, but you get the idea... I have dupes and want to catalog them in DVDP.

see this thread
I would prefer the "Manual Profile over false locality, but both share the same problem: no automatic updates, you have to copy the live-profile over the manual everytime an update you care for comes down the line.

PS Additionally you could try to enter them not by UPC but by DiscID if you have a DVD-ROM.

To me... a simple number of copies field in the personalize section would be plenty for such a thing. Until then (if we get such a thing) putting the number of copies in the notes section is fine. I just personally don't see the advantage of having all the info and cover images twice. A notation of number of copies suits my needs perfectly.

Not an ideal solution of course but you could create a new database specifically for your dupes.

the personalise section already contains a field where you can specify how many copies to count that profile as?

I never seen that field for this particular purpose as it is number of disc... I think how many disc is in that one release. Though that could be used for this purpose... I think there is a bit of a difference. But either way... as I said.. I am fine with it in notes section even.

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll have to give it some thought as to which idea might be the best solution. As for why I would want to enter dupes, I am a collector (as I'm sure many of you are) and there are times when I have dupes in my collection with the same UPC and disc ID, but different extras included or a different slip cover, etc., so being able to enter dupes would be very valuable.

If there are different contents, covers, etc., then they are not dupes, right?

Is it really the case that items with those differences actually have the same UPC and discID? If so, I'll bet the guys over in the Contributions Forum have had this problem before, and maybe have a solution.
