Hi Guys,

My HTPC system disk crashed a couple of weeks ago, and I decided to install W7 32 bit on the new one. When I install LoadDVD, it just doesn`t show in DVDPro, It is not listed under "watch plugins", the icon is missing, and the "play/retrieve disc" option in the DVD menu is also missing. I have tried all three verions currently available (1.85 ,2.03 ,2.05 ). I have done clean installs and everything looks perfectly normal in Windows Explorer. The LoadDVD folder is where it is supposed to be with all appropriate files inside. I have also tried both DVDPro versions 3.6 and 3.7, but with the same result.
Can anyone help, please?

Jan.

My HTPC runs Win 7 x86 (32bit) with LoadDVD and I can confirm this works.

Obviously Jim (aka MediaDogg) is your man on this.

The only things I can suggest you've probably already tried:

a. Uninstall + Reinstall (both DVD Profiler and LoadDVD)

b. Confirm the LoadDVD folder in C:\Program Files\DVD Profiler\Plugins\

Well that's more like it! LoadDVD may not be the easiest to understand, but it will do a lot. LoadDVD is the result of many people making request or suggestions - I just tried to program it, but the ideas came from people such as you. If you have the patience to help me figure out what is wrong, you will be happy. I wish I could share with you the many emails I have got from people having so much fun! I hope that you can too ...

Now, down to business. I personally use LoadDVD on WIN7, 32 and 64 bit. From your excellent description, my guess is that the LoadDVD is not loading properly. Here are some things that happened to other people:

- Net 2.0 not installed. This is easy to fix.
- Missing font. I have to do some research to figure out which one caused a problem - it happened to only one person, long ago.
- If you are installing DVDP in a non-default manner, for example in a different folder from what LoadDVD exepects.

I can't think of anything else right now. But I will try. I'm sorry that you are having trouble with this.

Thank you Mediadogg,

My computer has .NET 4.0 installed. The .NET 2.0 seems to be for XP and older. Should I install the 2.0. anyway, and in addition to the 4.0?

Yes, all versions of Net, starting from 2.0 can be installed together when needed. Net 2.0 works on all versions of Windows. Details will be on the Microsoft Site, and MS software usually warn you if the version is not correct, so it should be safe.

Mediadogg,

When trying to install .NET 2.0, I got a warning saying that the program was already installed as part of the operating system. I therefore reinstalled .NET 4.0 from a downloaded file and this "half" solved the problem.
I run two separate W7 partitions on my computer. The two windows installations are identical; in fact, one is a cloned copy of the other. The funny thing is, that reinstalling .NET 4.0 solved my problem on one OS, but not the other.
Even if the operating systems are identical, they run different software, so my conclusion is that some program or process on one OS is blocking LoadDVD´s way to the .NET 4.0.
I can give you a list of programs installed on the OS with problems and not on the other. Since this is strictly a HTPC, the number of programs are kept as small as possible, so it`s not a long list.
Perhaps you know of progams that have caused such problems in the past?

I'm sorry but I have no experience with such a configuration, and do not have any way to test or debug. But based on what you are saying it may not be a Net problem. With each post you are revealing more and more about your system, which appears to be non-standard and maybe even corrupted after your crash.

I'm really sorry for your troubles, and I'm not sure that I can fix it. I use LoadDVD on Win7 32 bit all the time, and so do others, so while your title is true, you should not assume that "Win 7 32 bit" iis the cause of the trouble.
