Setting a filter seems to only return matches against the parent profile, not child profiles.

For instance, I have created a parent profile for the Doctor Who discs, under which live all the actual releases. Filtering on one of the titles with "Contains" selected produces no results.

Edit: Filtering with the "Starts With" selected and "Doctor Who" only shows the top level parent profile.

Are you seeing the Blue indicator for the box set on the parent? If you are, if you click on that, does it show any or all of the discs?

If I create a "Starts with" filter and enter "doctor who" I see only the parent. If I touch the blue arrow indicator I see the child profiles. If I then create a new "Contains" filter with "dalek" I see only the ones I expect to see.

I can see how this works, but I really want to be able to search or filter within boxed sets from the main collection list. One of the main uses I'll have for this is to search for titles I may already have will shopping.

Am I missing something obvious?

That matches what I saw. I was just confused because I thought you weren't seeing the children at all.

I have the same problem on my iPhone 3GS (with the latest version of DVDProfiler):

When either doing a straight "Search" when browsing my collection, or when doing a filter search on "Title", child profiles are not picked up by the search. I.e. when searching for "Total Recall" nothing shows up, even though I have it in the box set called "Schwarzenegger Collection". (A UK locality Blu-ray box set.)

(When browsing my collection and opening "Schwarzenegger Collection" all 3 child profiles - including "Total Recall" - are there.)

I have also experienced the same issue with all other child profiles I have tried finding with the Search and Title Filter functions.

Yes. Works differently to a search in the desktop version. Here the search includes child profiles to any depth.

I really think that the iOS version and the desktop version should work the same way in regards to searches, and my preference is for the way the desktop version works.

Agreed. Especially when you have a large collection, it gets hard to remember which titles are part of a boxset. If you are simply searching for a film, it should be possible to find it by searching for the title regardless of it being in a box set or not.

My entire TV collection exists inside a Manual boxset, this bug makes it so none of the shows are listed in a filter search.

I had that issue too.  I had my HD DVD and Blu-ray setup the same way.  I simply changed the way I chose to do things locally to make things behave the way I wanted them too in the app.  Not the best answer of course, but once I rearranged things, I was pleased with the results anyway.  So there you are.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.

Well, I have a boxset under my TV categories to function as containers for other TV shows so it's not simply a matter of temporary copying them to the top level for me.  For example, I have containers for TV shows that have more than one season, and each of those seasons have the Discs under them.

to get the films showing that are in boxsets I've had to set all the containers to not showing on the ipod. (so I haven't had to move anything and it alllooks the same on the desktop)

this is similar to the problem I reported here - where films don't appear at all which are in collections if the container isn't in the collection as well
