I'm mainly interested in DVD Profiler Mobile.  Are there any limitations if I just register the mobile version?  TIA.

The mobile app is an add-on for the main app - it requires the main application to push the data to it.

The upcoming iPhone version is touted to be able to run stand-alone.

Yes, I'm aware that the Mobile version requires DVD Profiler.  Other than for access to the database, is the Mobile version fully functional using the unregistered version of DVD Profiler?

Well, I'm not sure if the Mobile would run with the unregistered, however, there is a major limitation. You'd only be able to have under 50 dvds listed as that's the cutoff point for most of the features. I'd think that to have more movies, you'd have to register the program.

According to the comparison chart, the unregistered version allows unlimited collection sizes.

You may be able to enter more than 50, but a good deal of the features stop functioning after that number. Filters stop working, can't use plugins, details view and thumbnails view of your dvds is removed. You won't be able to browse cast and crew. That's just a few of the things you lose. Up to you, but a lot of those details make it hard to use the program effectively. I also noticed the upload to the online is also disabled. Depending on how the program connects with Mobile, that function may not work either.

It's worth the money to buy the main program but to be honest, if you just want to pay for one program, I'd wait until the Apple App is ready. Shouldn't be too much longer and like Dr. Killpatient said, it functions on its own.

I think at this point, if you want a definitive answer, you may want to contact Invelos directly. At the bottom of the page, click on "contact us." One of the options is a pre-buying one, and they should be able to have the answer you need.
