Okay...so I am new to DVD Profiler and love it.  However, I am having trouble creating a type of report.  All I need on the report is the DVD title and media type.  How do I create the media type where it is just a list; i.e., DVD, Bluray, etc?  I do not wish to have images for them, something closer to an excel spreadsheet format.  I also have custom media types too.  How do I create those?  I have tried to read through some of the posts and am lost. I have no prior knowledge of doing this. Is there a tutorial of some sort to help walk me through this?  Can someone tell me how to do this?  Thanks for you help.

Add a text field. Type in e.g. "BluRay" -> choose "condition" for this field -> select Type: Media Type, condition: contain, Value: BluRay.
Make this for all media types and put all the field on the same position.* This should make it. (Hope so, because I never tried)

Edit: I don't use custom media types, so I don't know if it also works with them.
*Could be a problem with combos, but try it and you'll se if it's a prob or not.

Hi,

Check out the "Invelos Simple Listing" report.  If this is close to what you would like request assistance in modifying it.  It seems that changing the "Release Date" block to "Media Type" wouldn't be too complicated.  I did a little checking into custom media types and was able to add a new type but couldn't see how to include the new type in a report.

I tried creating the text field and followed the directions posted. When I went to run the report nothing besides the DVD title was showing up.  I must be doing something wrong, but unable to figure it out since there are only 4 steps.  I do have a few combo media types but thought that at least the few that are not combo would still show up.  I even set custom media type to the name that I have and it still didn't work.

Looking at the posts I tried the second option posted.

I looked at the "Invelos Simple Listing" report and that is the set up I wish to have.  Still not able to get the release date area to change to the media type.  I've been playing around with no luck.  Can someone assist me in this manner.  Please.

Hi again Lloyd,

I'm still hoping that someone more adept at creating reports will reply but in the meantime:
If you haven't already Edit a "Profile" to include the "Custom Media" type you desire.  In the Edit Profile window on the General tab click on the little icon in the top right corner to create a custom media.  Type in a name for it and remember it as this will be checked for in the report.
Next, using the Invelos Simple Listing, we'll change it to what you want.  Begin by selecting the report for editing and then saving it with a name for the report you want.
Next select and delete the release date field.  Now follow the instructions that VirusPil provided for adding a text field.  Change the caption field for each also to what you would like displayed in your report.  For the Custom media block check make sure that the comparison is equal to the new custom media name you gave it.
Also edit the Column Header to display "Media Type" as opposed to Release Date
Clear as mud, huh?
It takes a little fooling around but usually I'm able to tailor a report to what I want.
Fool around with it a bit and I think you'll be okay.  Just keep asking if you're stuck.  The more specific the question, the better.

Good luck, Jim F.
