Ok, this was a good chance for me to catch a couple of BulkEdit juicey bugs. Snapped them up.

The conversion of your sample file produces a couple of issues. Due to the way manufacturers use their assigned UPC/EAN codes, it is possible to think a DVD was produced for sale in the wrong country. This happens for a few of your titles that appear to have been sold in the Netherlands and Sweden, when in fact they were sold in the UK, and thereby were correctly assigned a UK "Locality" within the Invelos database. BulkEdit provides a way to quickly and easily change the locality for a batch of profiles. DVDP also can do this, one profile at a time. Anyway, I will give you a step by step procedure for the conversion later.

I have a couple of questions before I publish the updated BulkEdit:

(1) Do you want to preserve the "extra features" from CZ? If so, they will appear in the "Notes" field in DVDP. The DVDP "Other Features" field is too small to contain all the CZ info.

(2) Do you want to preserve the IMDB URL and Rating? If so, they will also appear as entries in the Notes field. I am already collecting the CZ "links" entries into the Notes field. When you set Notes to run as HTML, you can just click on the links directly from the Notes panel. DVDP has other built-in fileds for links, but I cannot access them from my plugin, so I just put things into Notes, so at least you don't lose the info.
Thanks for your support.

Ok, cool. I can probably do the whole thing in less time than it would take to type up a set of clear instructions for you. I don't usually do this, but this is a good chance for me to improve my CZ import function, as it was done quite awhile ago.

(Edit: No more trick or treaters knocking. Going to bed. Maybe the file will arrive tomorrow ... )
(Edit: woke up to lots of email from friends and family - still no file from bobbie - maybe send again?)

Not sure what is going on with this. Never got the file.

So, I released BulkEdit 2.18, whch correctly converts your sample XML file (note that you had created an extraneous "?" at the beginning of the file. Make sure you don't disturb the CZ format in the future).

In BulkEdit, Load the XML file with the Locality field checked. Make any required changes to Locality (in the sample, I had to change a few titles from Nettherlands to UK, and 1 from Sweden to UK - this takes a matter of seconds). Then run "Save Validated Changes". Exit BulkEdit and Run Online\Refresh Updated Profiles From Invelos. Depending on your network speed, the whole process start to finish takes about 1 minute per 5 - 10 profiles. You can do this in a new database or load into an existing one. Just make sure you backup first, just in case.
Thanks for your support.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

You should have followed the exact sequence I gave you. Sounds like you didn't run the Invelos update as I specified. I won't try to debug errors that occur unless you follow the directions. If you want, you can delete all that error info to reduce thread clutter. Hopefully, you won't hit that error again. When finished, your profiles will be complete. Everything gets downloaded for you. That's the real power of DVD Profiler. All your personal data will have been preserved. There will be no need to edit any regions or anything else except personal data, once this is complete.

Again, here is what to do (sample times are on my laptop, connected Wi-Fi)

(1) Load the XML file with the Locality field checked. (40 minutes)
(2) Use the MultiCopy Tool 2 Find/Replace to change Sweden and Netherlands to United Kingdom (5 minutes). Your cursor should be somewhere in the Locality column before clicking the MultiCopy menu.
(3) Run "Save Validated Changes". (1 min)
(4) Exit BulkEdit
(5) Run Online\Refresh Updated Profiles From Invelos. ( Nearly 2 hours and still running on my system). All profiles downloaded OK, but now the child profiles are being automatically downloaded.
(6) Backup the database
(7) Now you can begin to use the database in a normal way - but not before, as you found out the hard way.

There still could be some loose ends, for example if you have a network error during download. This is easy to recover from by jusr re-running the download for any profiles that didn't get completely updated. Or re-run the whole thing again. Only the missing bits will come down the second time.
Thanks for your support.

Ok, you are going to hit a couple of tough nuts. You know your collection, so you will probably reseolve them more easily that I can. After the dust settled, there were about 70 profiles that did not have a match in the Invelos database. These are evident by the lack of cover images and other data.

The way I fix these, is to flag them, then load them into BulkEdit and do mass changes on any obvious Locality errors. Since it is not my collection, nothing is obvious, so I just changed everything to United Kingdom. Then I went back to DVDP and ran Collection\Flagged\Refresh. This fixed about half.

So, after about 3 hours of mostly automated running of BulkEdit and Invelos download, I have a database with over 1600 Invelos profiles, plus about 40 that are not yet resolved. This means that either they are actually in the Invelos database with a different locality, or entered with a Disk ID instead of a UPC/EAN, or it could be the unlikely case that your movie is not in the database at all. It will be a matter of a bit of research, or just downloading them manually and deleting the bogus ones that got automatically generated, especially for any profiles that give you the error you mentioned before. I found only one. Just delete it, download manually from Invelos by UPC or title, and then update your personal info. Easier to do that, than debug the error for just one profile. Good luck. I'm looking at your database (99%). If you really hit a brick wall, I give you the one I created.

First of all i must thank you for the work you have done , it seems to have done about 90% of the titles which is great, Obviously there are going to be the odd niggle like when i found 2 empty entries in the column with the barcode numbers in , is there any way to insert a barcode number so it doesnt miss a place ?? the rest i will alter slowly as i go through them , it will still be a lot quicker than doing them all , so once again many many thanks for your work

I'm not sure what you are talking about. By barcode number, do you mean collection number? If so, there are some menu items that allow you to renumber. Also, you can assign collection numbers in the Personal Information section. Again, I caution you against editing the skeletion profiles created by BulkEdit. Those profiles need to be filled in by Invelos to be totally functional and valid. If you mean UPC/EAN, you can also change that using the "DVD" menu of DVD Profiler. But the best way is to delete any problem profiles and enter them manually. The skeleton profiles created by BulkEdit are there only to serve as a placeholder for the Invelos download. If the Invelos download doesn't fill in a particular profile, due to a UPC or Locality mismatch, try to fix it only by updating the Locality and/or UPC, then doing a refresh. If you can;t find a match, delete the skeleton and download directly from Invelos by UPC or by Title.

If you want my version of the database, I have a backup - but it may be too bog to email. I got 98%, so I think the difference is a matter of experience in using both DVDP and BulkEdit - to be expected.
Thanks for your support.

Great! For me, it makes the effort worth it, and now we have a verified procedure for the next person. And guess who we all will point to when the next CZ newbie comes along? .... right, you got it - you are the new CZ Conversion Guru!!!!

Oh, by the way, if you notice any patterns to the 82 errors that the conversion code could avoid, let me know, and I will tweak the code accordingly.

The blank entries that it found was due to the original cz file not having the barcode/upc entry when it was exported
