Oh I agree... I don't see where they needed to do that at all.

I think I will get ready to watch part 2... I am not 100% sure... but I don't think I ever seen the second one. I know I haven't seen the 3rd... but don't have the 3rd in my collection yet.

My Thoughts:
Looking at my list of movies to watch I see that somehow I haven't watched this movie since 2004. Could that be right? Has it really been 7 years since I seen this movie? Well that is what DVD Profiler tells me so I guess so. Anyway... I thought I need to fix that problem here today. I am not sure what I can say about this movie that hasn't already been said... so I will keep this short and sweet. If you are a sci-fi fan... a horror fan... or both... in my opinion this movie is a must see. It is just a well done movie... it keeps you glued to your seat watching... even after multiple viewings. I couldn't recommend this movie high enough!

My Rating: 5/5

I know you haven't been able to upgrade to HD yet but you really need to see this film on Blu-ray with HD picture and sound. Believe me...it's a whole new experience. I watched it for the first time in HD Blu-ray on my old plasma a few weeks ago and it blew my socks off. I'm going to watch it again today on my new Plasma HDTV as it's certified and has a Picture mode for THX so I can see it just as the Director intended .

My Thoughts:
Going into this one I couldn't remember if I seen it before or not. There was enough scenes in it that looked familiar to make me believe I have. Though I am sure it hasn't been since it was originally released. I did enjoy this one... but not as much as I did the first one. I found I just didn't care about the story in this one as much as I did the first.

Trivia

My Thoughts:
Next I felt like watching something a little more on the comedy side. After watching the part one last month for the first time in many years... thought I would do the same for part 2 now. While I did enjoy it quite a bit... I do like the first one better. I don't know... I think there is just too much going on all at once in this one. It is like they squeezed every idea they could think of into this one. Through-out the entire movie I was thinking the guy that owns the building looks so familiar to me... but I just couldn't place it. So after the movie was over I checked the credits... turned out to be John Glover (Lionel Luthor on Smallville). He looked so different! Of course this movie is a good 20 years old now.

Title: The Pledge
Year: 2001
Director: Sean Penn
Rating: R
Length: 124 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1
Subtitles: English, French

Stars:
Patricia Clarkson
Beau Daniels
Benicio Del Toro
Dale Dickey

Plot:
The murder suspect confessed, then took his own life. Case closed? Not for Nevada homicide cop Jerry Black. He has his own instincts about the crime. And even though he's ready to begin a gone-fishin' early retirement, he promised the victim's family he'd find the killer.

Jack Nicholson (as Jerry) heads an all-star cast (Robin Wright Penn, Aaron Eckhart, Benicio Del Toro and more) in the gripping tale of a detective, driven to seek the truth…and driven into the darker reaches of his own mind by obsession. Sean Penn (who previously guided Nicholson in "The Crossing Guard") directs, shaping sharp portrayals, crisp detail and a mounting sense of dread into a thriller both unconventional and unforgettable.

My Thoughts:
When I stumbled onto this movie in my profiler... a movie I forgot I had... I checked the trailer and it looked good so decided to watch this one next. While it is a good enough movie... I don't feel it was that great. Being just over 2hrs the movie felt a little drawn out. And the ending just wasn't satisfying to me. The ending was a bit dark... and a bit strange... but it just didn't feel right for the story that was told. Jack Nicholson did a good job in the movie... as did most everyone else. But for me at least... the ending brought this movie down quite a bit.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I know I have seen before... but it has been many years. Probably in the '90s when it was first released on VHS. So basically the only thing I remembered about it was it had Robin Williams as a grown up Peter Pan and that I enjoyed it at the time. The first thing I thought before watching this movie... while setting up this review was this is a long movie! 2 hours and 22 minutes long? Wow! At that length I sure hope this movie holds up well for me.

As you can see from the cover I bought this one as a 2 disc set along with the movie The Indian in the Cupboard. A movie I am not sure if I ever seen. I really remember nothing about it. So I basically bought this one for Hook. If by any chance I don't care for either of them... at least I got this set cheap at only $5.99!

After watching the movie I have to admit... this one is nothing more then a huge production full of mindless fun. But I did enjoy every moment of it still. Even the slower moments of the movie was done in a fun way. I thought everyone in it done a great job. This movie alone was well worth the price I paid for the set. I was concerned about the length of this movie... but it was so fun that the time flew by so fast I didn't even notice how long it is. And if that is not the sign of good entertainment... I don't know what is. If you never seen this movie I definitely recommend it. But don't go into it expecting more then what it is. Nothing more then great imagery and mindless fun. Expect anything more then that then chances are you will be disappointed.

My Thoughts:
This is a made for TV movie that originally aired on Lifetime. This came up as a recommendation at Amazon when I ordered The Good Witch... and when I watched the TV Spot on Youtube I knew I had to see it as it dealt with the supernatural as Michael (Catherine Bell), the 911 operator got ghostly calls from a little girl. I have been a big fan of Catherine Bell every since I first saw her on the TV series JAG. And I absolutely loved her in this movie. As much as I recently enjoyed her in the movie The Good Witch... I enjoyed her even more in this one. This one had me glued to the TV from the very beginning to the very ending. And without saying much to give it away... I will just say I loved how they ended this one. A thrilling movie from the start.... with a touching ending. I can easily see myself watching this movie again.

My Thoughts:
I never watched Steve Irwin on the Discovery Channel... but I did know who he was. The movie isn't bad.. it is silly.. and entertaining... but far from the best comedy I ever seen. Still it had enough chuckles for me to enjoy watching it. Though it isn't one I could see watching often. It has a pretty nice DVD release... with a good selection of bonus features.

Quoting FilmAlba:

Twilight: Eclipse (2010)
There's a time in a man's life where he has to make sacrifices for a women and seeing a Twilight film is one of them. After witnessing the unspeakable horror of New Moon like Event Horizon it's a porthole to hell where you want to gauge your eyes out. A love sick teen girl prances around some forest torn between a man dog who can't seem to keep his top on and is sprayed very  liberally with fake tan. Or an undead emo played by Robert Pattinson who makes William i love you wife Hurt blush with his crippled emotional acting.

To my surprise though Eclipse is watchable and at points entertaining. Robert Pattinson actually isn't so wooden in this and at times i was cheering him on (act boy act like you have never acted before!). It's still girly and teeny but at least it's not a total snooze fest but i would not go out my way to see it.

Still be comforted if you are dragged along to this that it is not New Moon

3/5

Just come across this thread (blind much!?)
I've read all the books and thought I'd put a different perspective on this series.

Twilight - on first viewing I was very disappointed. I loved the book; but it felt very much like a 'first novel' and, as such, was a little repetitive and simplistic. However, I had great expectations for the film. I felt the makers went OTT on the lovey-dovey aspect and watered down the characters too much. On subsequent viewings (to date I've seen it 7 times) I have enjoyed it more and more.

New Moon - unlike FilmAlba I LOVED this film from start to finish. I felt it was closer to the book and; being a werewolf fan (definitely in Team Jacob) I prefer the storyline to Twilight. I thought the actors seemed more comfortable in their roles. It was more exciting and, contrary to many critics, I thought the wolves looked fantastic.

Eclipse - Loved this one too...however, I felt there was much more missing from the book; especially about the Newborns. Certain sequences seemed too rushed; and the characterisation suffered IMO. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the 3 films so far when I bought this one.

I definitely feel that the series works better as a whole, rather than each film as a standalone.

The thing about The Twilight Saga in general is a marmite thing - you either love it or hate it. Whether I would be so enamoured if I hadn't read the books, I'm not sure. All I can say is that I'm looking forward to Breaking Dawn.
Many people refer to these films as chick-flicks; and maybe that is the case. Obviously, I'm not a girl - but, being gay, I possibly have some of the same sensibilities when watching certain films.

Lastly, and to prove the point I make above, I certainly don't have a problem with Jacob being shirtless through a lot of the fillm!!!

I still have only seen the first one... and I never read any of the books. Being such a huge vampire fan (sorry Neil!)  I had a bit of a problem with the whole...
putting in spoilers as any type of spoiler for any movie (no matter how old or popular) is a real pet peeve of mine.

It is just something I couldn't get used to. Now I am not saying I will never see the other movies... I would still be willing to give them a chance. And personally being straight... I would like to know when the girls gets equal time of being topless!

Title: Starsky & Hutch
Year: 2004
Director: Todd Phillips
Rating: PG-13
Length: 100 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo

Plot:
HERE COMES THE FUZZ! Starsky takes the wheel, Hutch rides shotgun and comedy runs wild in this hilarious twist on the landmark buddy-cop TV show.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson bring a playful chemistry to the roles of undercover detectives Starsky and Hutch. Todd Phillips (Old School, Road Trip) directs this '70s groove in which our guys are stripped of their badges, duped by a drug kingpin (Vince Vaughn) and totally ripped off in a disco contest. So, yeah, they got some scores to settle. Snoop Dogg is in fly funkadelic mode as urban coolster Huggy Bear. And Juliette Lewis and others make for nonstop fun. If inducing laughter is a crime, they're all guilty as charged!

My Thoughts:
Felt like a little action/comedy next. And I wanted to give this one a go because I recently blind bought the season 1 set of the TV Series... which I watched the first disc of so far and enjoyed. The series don't have nearly the amount of comedy in it that the movie does. Though it is more of a being silly style of comedy then a laugh out loud type. I found that I enjoyed the movie... but really expected a little more from it. I liked both Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson in the title roles. And I don't think I could imagine anyone doing Huggy Bear better then Snoop Dogg. I mean he hit the role just right going by the few episodes of the series I seen so far. It is a fun watch... but it could have been done better. Maybe doing it more like the series... and taking it more seriously would have helped... I don't know.

I'd give this one 2.5/5. I didn't like it much at all. When I'd first heard there was going to be a "Starsky & Hutch" movie I was very excited. I loved the original series during the mid 70's when I was in high school. The Torino was just too cool . This film was a huge disappointment. It was nothing more than a parody, or better yet, a mockery of the original series. If, as you said, they had been truer to the series, I would have probably liked it better. It's too bad that they missed the opportunity .

I think I may have liked it a little more then you because I'm NOT as familiar with the series. Like I said... I never seen more then the first 4 episodes of the first season. I probably would have liked it less if I was a big fan of the series already.

Like The Dukes of Hazzard was huge from my childhood... and I can't believe how badly they mucked up the movie version!

Exactly my point . The studio had a golden opportunity to "revive" interest in a long dead series and possibly increase sales in the box sets by making serious films but they chose the "low road" and made films that were geared to the low-brow, mentally-deficient, reality TV watching-Jerry Springer crowd. Anything for a buck I guess .
