I installed the plugin successfully. I added the following into the notes field of one of my videos: \\Wdtvlive\VERBATIM\Agathe Clery.avi - I rightclick on Agathe Clery profile and launch Play/Retrieve Disc ->1:Film et supplément and get then the error Disc Eject Fail. What do I do wrong? The version of my LoadDVD plugin is 1.75

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Assuming you are talking about LoadDVD, I would encourage you to spend a few minutes reading the first post in the LoadDVD thread. I put a lot of time and effort into writing detailed instructions. After you do that, then post your experience in the LoadDVD thread. Only PM me if you don't get a response in a timely manner in the Forum. I will help you be successful, but I request that you first respect my efforts to provide the necessary instructions.

All that being said, if you are a customer of LoadDVD Pro, my viewpoint is a bit different. If that is the case, please PM me for instant help.
Thanks for your support.

I read thru all the posts and also thru what you call the first post in the LoadDVD thread (you did not indicate the URL link to this tread, but I think I read thru the correct thread). I do all what is written there: for the example I mention in my post I have my location field set to file and in the notes field I have the UNC path to the .avi file (\\wdtvlive\verbatim\Agathe Clery.avi). If I copy past this UNC path into the Start/Execute field of Windows XP or the Start/Start search field in Vista, then the .avi file is found and VLC is launched. If this feature in LoadDVD would work for me I'd be inclined to buy the Pro version, but as long as I always get the error (Could not open file, or any other error) I have to pass.

Sorry trying and experiencing and trying brought me a bit further. I now manage to play my networked .iso and .avi files. I put into the notes field the following for my example .avi file: "[filepath]\\Wdtvlive\VERBATIM\Agathe Clery.avi[/filepath]" - without quotes of course. But... even if I succeed now playing the .avi or .iso file I still have a popup error showing up which says can't open / play ! I have associated .iso and .avi to VLC.

Ok, now you are ready for me. I could tell that had not read the instructions because you were not using the [Filepath] and in fact you did not mention putting file into the Location field. Now you have done those things, but I am still confused by the statement that you are successfully playing the file, but still getting an error message? How can they both be happening?  It should work: that's the way I do it sometimes. I also use other methods that I have leaned from other users.

Once more, I request to move to the official LoadDVD thread. There are many examples there of exactly how to do what you want to do. It will be easier to find them if we go there. I hope the next post from you will be there.

Edit: Just to make sure, I just tried this on my system, and it works for me with VLC Player associated with .ISO and .avi. I am using LoadDVD Pro, but with the "Pro" feature switched off. Then it is the same code as LoadDVD.

This thing is really strange and I do not understand why VLC plays even if LoadDVD gives the error "c an't open / play!". Now it's even more ununderstandable as I installed DVD Profiler from scratch on my VISTA box and added the LoadDVD plugin and then imported the DVDProfiler DB from the other computer. And oh wonder...VISTA does not give the error and plays all my .iso, .avi, and .mkv files ! So actually I'm left with the error message only on my XP and my Win7 machine, however the files play on all machines with VLC (XP and Win7 with error poping up and Vista with no error poping up. I will try to scratch DVDProfiler 3 and LoadDVD plugin on my XP and Win7 machines and install it from scratch as I did on the VISTA box. I will let you know the result once done. Thanks for your replys and all your work you've done so far.

Ok. I did the test of re-install from scratch on my XP machine. The same error happens: Can't Open / Play, but VLC starts a bit later and plays. On my VISTA box everything plays correctly without error. I did not re-install on my Windows 7 Ultimate Box where I get the same error as on my XP box. I think the problem comes from a time-out of VLC which does not wait enough to buffer the network located video file. In fact my XP box as well as my Windows 7 box are slower machines than the VISTA box. When I will come back from my vacation I'll buy the pro-version of this plugin. It's really great, thanks for all the efforts.

I have to admit, this is a new one on me. I have used LoadDVD on a wide range of machines, including a really old Dell D600 running XP, and I haven't seen that particular error. That part of LoadDVD and "Pro" are the same, so I wouldn't expect different results, unless you switch to using the built-in player based on WMP and your own self-instaled codecs (such as K-Lite). With that combination, there are not many things it can't play.

By the way, in case you are wondering why I didn't use VLC inside "Pro", it is only because the version that is available for that sort of thing is obsolete and crashes a lot. If they ever update the ActiveX object, I will try it again.

Ok I have the same error message, you say problem solved but is there a link to the thread? I have looked in plugins and the main thread has about 40 pages. I went to the post July 12th to current but no answers found there?

One thing that causes confusion is that people refuse to post in the proper thread. Since you found it, why didn't you post your question there? If you had, you might have noticed that your post was immediately following the post with the answer you seek.
