I was using an older version of dvdprofiler and dvdload plugin. I had to put "Play" in the" location" field". Upon loading the 3.6.1 version, now dvdload plugin does not work until I change the" location" field to "file". Is there a way to bulk edit to "location" field to all the movies at one time. I downloaded the bulkedit 2.10 plugin but I can not get the plugin to work.

I open tools>bulkedit then File>to Excel

It creates the collection.xml

I then Load?XML and Validate

Well you are trying to do exactly stuff that is supposed to work, so I will stick with you untill it does.

(1) First of all, I didn't make any changes intentionally to LoadDVD that would cause you to need to switch from "play" to "file". They work totally differently, so I am suspicious. Before you make the change, I would like to confirm that in fact that you really need to. It should have absolutely nothing to do with the version of Profiler. LoadDVD is the same for both, at this time. So, first of all, exactly how are you using LoadDVD?

(2) Next, there is no need for you to mess with XML in BulkEdit. Just flag the profiles you want to edit, load BulkEdit, checkmark the Location field, then "Load Flagged".

(3) When the profiles have loaded, you will have two columns, ProfileID and Location. Then put your cursor somwhere in the Location column and select the "Multicopy" tool. Use the Find/Replace. Type "play" in the Look For field, and "file" in the Replace With field, then click "Replace All". Click Finished. Look and see that it worked, and if OK, click File->Save Validated Changes...  The whole process should take about 1/2 hour or less start to finish if you have 1000 profiles - more or less if you have greater or fewer profiles.

I opened bulk edit,  checked "location" ( there is now a check mark in the location box), "load">"Flagged Profiles", message "overwrite sheet date" , click "yes",
the result is one colunm "Profile ID" and one row "1" , and the only cell is empty.

example of notes that work with 3.6.1:
"[filepath]G:\MOVIES\3039\Princess and the Frog\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.ifo[/filepath]"
Location:
"file"
example of notes that work with old version  :
"[filepath]G:\MOVIES\3039\Princess and the Frog\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.ifo[/filepath]"
Location:
"Play"

another note of problem, I had the software on one computer with Vista. I had the old version and had the location with "play". I upgraded to 3.6.1 and ran the conversion when it started . That system is ok. DVDload works with "play".  I am going to retire that system so I purchased a new computer with fresh load of Win 7. Instead of loading old DVDprofile and upgrading to 3.6.1. I just loaded it with 3.6.1  new load. I restored the DB from the other computer. This new sytem requires the "file" in location to work.

Ok, you have to actually flag some profiles first. Otherwise "Load Flagged" will load nothing. Also, a little annoying detail that I should fix: "Disc Information" has to also be checked if anything from the disc is needed, such as Location. This is an old annoyance that I am always forgetting to fix. It is documented somewhere, but even I forget it sometimes.

What you are doing should have always needed "file". Is there something you are not telling me? Such as me or somebody else helping you long ago to write a script for the "play" option, that got wiped out when you switched computers? What is happening has nothing to do with your operating system or version of DVD Profiler. The "play" and "file" options work completely differently - you can't just swicth and have it magically work, so you must have had a "play" script (PlayFromDisk.bat) sometime in the past, even though at that time perhaps you didn't realize that by using "file" you didn't need the script. I vaguely remember a couple of folks having these issues in the past ...

Thanks very much for the help, I was able to get the bulk edit to work after setting the flags on all . I set the location to "file" on all locations and it worked great.

As to why the older computer worked with "play" I really dont know, It was a long time ago.

Again the DVDload plugin is the best part of the dvdprofiler, thanks

Thank you. You might want to consider LoadDVD Pro. It has everything that the free version has, plus it contains a built-in Media Player and Playlist Manager. It will play just about anything, including pictures, mpg, avi, ISO, YouTube, Hulu and NetFlix and many other flash-based videos. And it is On Sale!
