Want to know what your viewing/listening habits are for the majority of audio commentary tracks available on a lot of  new and older titles both on SD and BluRay discs.
Which of the following poll questions would you fall under?

Reason for the Poll is:  If a Special edition disc contains audio information about an uncredited actor that is NOT in the Screen Credits  roll, should that name be added to ALL editions of said title?
or just that special edition only?  and IF so or If NOT  how many listen to the tracks to substantiate and approve or disapprove of the contributed additions?

I'm divided on answer being- if said actor is mentioned it should be used but if you don't own the special edition how can you agree.., and if not.., that uncredited should or shouldn't be on the non 'special edition' of same said title?

I went with number 3. I listen to all of the commentary tracks for movies I review (whether I want to or not ) and if I really like the director and/or movie, I'll listen to those as well.

Regarding the SE disc about an uncredited actor, the name should only be added to the discs you (general you) own and can verify IMO.

If the uncredited actor is only seen in scenes added to the SE, then they should only be added to the SE profiles. Otherwise, I don't see why they can't be added to all profiles using the SE commentary as a source.

Perhaps added to the SE profile first, and then you can reference that documentation for your copy of a normal version.

I hate when people talk during a movie so I never listen to commentary tracks.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

The only commentary I've ever really enjoyed was "Commentary: The Musical" which is the musical commentary for Dr. Horrible.

Very god and interesting question.
I think the best way to go about it would be to have a "confirmed uncredited cast" thread like the BY one. Then if someone gets info like this from a commentary, another user or 2 or 3 can verify, then the actor/movie can be confirmed and added to list. As long as different discs are the same version/cut of a film, they will have the same uncredited people in them.

Great thread!

BTW, I used to listen to almost every commentary possible, now it's very rare I do. Mostly I'll swicth to comm tracks when doing audits, just in case of something like this. I've also started to scan/skim through them looking for uncredited and credited as proof.

Good idea on having a 'confirmed uncredited cast' thread!

Agreed - but only if the scene where the uncredited actor appears is in the original edition as well as the special edition (but I guess thats a given..  )

I usually only listen to the commentary if it's a movie that I really enjoy...enough to watch 2 times in a row since I usually watch the movie, then watch the movie with the commentary.  (Every year I watch the How the Grinch Stole Christmas one).

As for the other question, I don't know why you couldn't use the commentary to indentify uncredited in a movie, but, as brought up, you have to be careful that the SE doesn't have deleted scenes that are only in that edition.

As stated, can we use the commentary as proof of uncredited cast?

I personally would have no problems accepting a commentary source for proof of uncredited.

Right now, there seems to be no restriction to what can be used for uncredited cast. You can simply say you know the person & it'll be accepted.
