Hi all, I've been posting a perfectly valid contribution to the Dutch profile of 2012.
New coverscans and completing the incomplete current profile has been added a couple of weeks ago.
A few days ago, I spotted my contribution disappeared.

Normally if a Contribution is not accepted, profile will still be available, but has received the status "Declined".
Well not in this case, complete Contribution is physcially gone!

So, sent in same changes again a couple of days ago.
Again a number of people have voted "Yes" to the changes made and I was waiting for the changes to be accepted.
However, to my horror I noticed today that the Contribution has vanished into thin air again!!

What's going on here?
Anybody got any idea???

But that thread only says that the contributions aren't released to the database. Contributions are still accepted and processed (My understanding is that the contributions will be handled as usual until it is approved where the status will hang until updates are sent to the DB again)

Since the contributor sent in an update weeks ago, this shouldn't have anything to do with it.

But this wouldn't make the contribution disappear. They get accepted (or declined) and are in "hold", means they don't get released until ver. 3.6 gets final.

@reusla:
could you give me the EAN so I can check?

EDIT: Rebyr types a lot faster than me

If you are talking about 8712609659375 (DVD locality Netherlands), it really seems that your contribution got lost (it doesn't even appear in the contrib notes)
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Hi guyz, EAN is 8-712609-661453.
Whatever the reason of rejecting the contribution, I still think the contribution should not be removed, but retained with a "Declined" status.

Mind you, my latest contribution of the profile for 2012 was prior to March 20th, so this should by no means be the reason for the removal of the contribution.
The first attempt was a couple of weeks ago....

I just downloaded it so I could look at it. Let me give you a critique of your notes.

* Disc is not Region Coded--How do you know this, you provide no source
* Changed Rating and added Rating Details----Same as above, what basis
* Changed Case Type
* Added Genres
* Added Studios/Distributors---Source?
* Added Features---Source?
* Corrected Aspect Ratio---How did you determine it
* Amended Subtitles---Source?
* Corrected Audio Tracks---Source?
* Added Overview---From Where?
* Added Disc Info
* Copied Cast & Crew from existing US profile (UPC 043396292215)-Did you verify the data in the cloned data against the ACTUAL data on your copy, it is KNOWN that Cast and Crew are not necessarily universal....probably but SOMETIMES for reasons only known to the filmmakers, different credits in other regions/Localities/Versions

Now it appears that while your Contribution was validly declined, it is now in the cue waiting for the update, your Contribution Notes will remain part of the permannent record for the title along with the fact that it was declined. Were I you i would address the concerns above and resubmit with new notes accordingly.

Strange though that they have no status (neither declined, nor accepted)

This leaves two options:
1. The contribution contains new, yet unaccepted birthyears for cast and/or crew
  • in this case the contribution is not open for the "normal" evaluation process, but is evaluated from Invelos directly (takes a lot longer and you don't see any progress in the meantime)

  • 2. You accidentally withdrew the contribution
  • check here to verify
  • It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
    But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

  • But that shouldn't be the case since he receives yes votes. It's not possible to vote on contributions with new birth years.

    I have no idea what the problem is in this case.

    This is really strange.
    I only know this message:
    "Unable to evaluate the selected contribution

    The selected contribution cannot be evaluated since it has already been processed by the Invelos contribution evaluation team."
    ..when a new BY is submitted.
    But as reybr wrote, then there couldn't be votes for the contribution.

    Let's have a eye on it. I'm really interested what happened.

    The only thing I can think of is the following scenario:

    1. The profile is contributed and receives votes
    2. The contributor uploads a new contribution before the first is processed, but presses cancel to avoid submitting it.
    3. The second contribution will then have overwritten the first, but will not be shown in contributions because it was canceled.

    If this isn't the case, then all I can say is to send a support ticket to ask an Invelos representative.

    Hi Skip, I have always contributed like this in the past without any problems whatsoever. Each of my contributions are based on data retrieved from the actual DVD/Blu-ray and covers of the release itself, so that explains the source of all the changes. Perhaps the source could be stressed more clearly in the contribution text, but never did I encounter this strange behaviour in accepting/declining contributions.
    Regarding the copying of cast/crew info from the same movie stored for another UPC : it's highly unlikely that other actors will play the roles and other crew will direct, act as DoP, Editor, etc. in the country I wish to contribute for, right? This is also common practice by a lot of contributions I encounter to complete a very incomplete profile that has been drawn up by remotely hearing that a release of a DVD/Blu-ray is on the horizon (if these contributions were to be declined, I would understand; more than once encountered a contribution of a DVD/Blu-ray consisting of very few data and a cover scan that is a copy of a small picture of a website).

    Mind you, I did add more contributions on both times I added 2012, and these were all accepted/rejected, but for 2012 obviously some other rules seem to apply. So I still think my question why this profile keeps ending up in the waste bin is a valid one...

    Well you could elaborate on some parts. For instance I always mention the program I checked the region coding with or where I got the studios from (the opening credits, the end credits, copyright notice at the end of the end credits) etc.

    Furthermore the cast and crew should be checked. Of course you can copy from a parallel release, but compare this with the actual credits of the film. Another master could have been used with other spelling of the cast and crew or even other cast/crew members. It isn't that uncommon.
