| Posted: | | | | What should be be done with contributions that are entered incorrectly?
For example:
Best in Show is in the database with the UPC 085393-081324 but the back cover scan has the UPC 085391-895121 (which is also in the database under this number).
I've been running into this lately and wonder what the best thing to do is. I have removed the incorrect back cover and copied and copied and pasted the front.
But, it seems that the best thing to do might be to completely remove the entire profile since the correct profile and scans are already in the database.
Thoughts? |

| Posted: | | | | The problem with that Kathy.... You don't know for sure that there isn't a release with UPC 085393-081324 that is just missing the correct cover scans. Movies come out with more then one UPC all the time. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | or it could be a less used UPC (I have several of these)... and the people that have it and actually contribute (not everyone contributes) may not have a scanner.
Not to mention it could be a simple thing of just not being noticed... I know I don't check the UPC numbers on the scans of all the profiles I download. Check them when voting on images... yes. But check them when downloading profiles?... Not so much. | | | Pete |

While you're right about that, I do believe in this case it's a wrong entry. If you do a Google search for that number, no results come up. The same happens with a Yahoo search. Both sites have multiple entries listed for the other UPC. I think that even a lesser known UPC would result in at least one result. | | | Last edited: by Ardos |

| Posted: | | | | Something is obviously very wrong, Kathy. The Cover Scans have to match the profile.
You don't tell us what you have IF you have 085393-081324, scan the Cover and replace the existing image accordingly. IF you have 085391-895121, which you said was already in the database then there is nothing to do. If you have the latter, then there is nothing that you can do with former, unless you can prove an error beyond the cover, as has already been noted multiple UPCs are not uncommon, though there is a difference there in the numbers which ummmmmm....ummmm. has on aodor about it because of the difference in the two. 081324 seems to stink but i can't prove it.

I think that even a lesser known UPC would result in at least one result. There is a sequencing to UPCs that one gets familiar with over the years, Forget. Which is why I say something smells, but can't prove it. But you might be on to something. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | I found one like that where the UPC didn't agree with rge cover. I commented that the screeners ought to be able to check that, and the moderator or somebody didn't like my comment so I thought the hell with it. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.
