Probably been requested before but I'd have more luck selling chocolate fireplaces than finding it with the search function but how about an AKA field? I like to know what films have been released as throughou the years (especially horrors). Of course, it could go in the notes field but it would be a nice field to have and could also hold alternate spellings (Seven for example ).

Not something I would use.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I agree, even if it was local only.  For example, I have Korean and Japanese films that are known under 2 or 3 "official" English titles, so this field could allow me to track that.  It would also be good for the translated titles of foreign films.

Thirded for reasons both synner_man and sam stated.

There are a ton of DVDs in my collection that have numerous titles, and knowing them all would be helpful.

(Haute Tension immediately comes to mind with its 3 known titles. )

I came up with the same basic idea in another thread so yup, I'm for it.

Try searching for "batteries not included".

Imho a good idea as there are some movies with different titles (most times B- or C-Movies) and some that have a special writing. (what we sometimes use according to the rules)

I'd be down. I have some crappy old films that have stars in them before they were stars (you know the ones) that have been re-released under a different name for whatever reason the studios thought would fit. I also have a bunch of horror films that would have at least one aka film title. I'd definitely support a field for that.

Sounds like it could be useful. Maybe not on the top of my wishlist, but I support the request.

I have a question. How does one see this field working. People are mentioning movies that have multiple AKA's, which one gets put in the field. or does it allow up to x number of AKA's? if so how many?

Here's how I would use it (I'll use Haute Tension as an example):

"X Tension" would go in the title/"Haute Tension" would go in the original title field of my X Tension copy.
"High Tension" would go into the title/"Haute Tension" would go in the original title of my High Tension copy.
"Switchblade Romance", "X Tension" and "High Tension" will go in the aka field of all.*

*Ideally, though, there would be some sort of filter that removed the unnecessary AKA. For example, with X Tension, I would enter in Switchblade Romance, High Tension and X Tension as the AKA, but the software would check the title against the AKAs and remove X Tension automatically.
