| Posted: | | | | Hi!
As you all know, it is not possible to enter the (right) covers of second releases to the online database, if they are different to the covers of the first release. I do not know if there could be a simple possibility to give us this feature in dvd-profiler. Until then (maybe) we have to live with this one cover set. This is no problem since you own a scanner, but not satisfying if not. I personally don't like having wrong covers in my lokal DB, so I'm scanning all of my covers. What I would like to know, is: Is this really a problem, or do most of the users own a scanner?

| Posted: | | | | I just recently got a scanner... so this was a problem for me until a few months back. Some of us are trying to help those less fortunate with a Re-Release Cover Scan Thread. There is also a SITE where you can download all that has been contributed to the cause so far. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Pete has sent me 2 more covers to put on the site. I plan to do this early next week, so the forum topic should popup again.
Maybe I should open a support ticket to get a sticky post. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I think that would be a good idea Chris... what with how often the topic comes up. Who knows... maybe we can get more people sending in their scans as well. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | You should try either the support ticket or the contact me link at the bottom of all pages. Ken and Gerri both said that the PMs are not the best way to contact them. | | | Pete |

But if there is an interest, I can send my scans. |

| Posted: | | | | As long as I have webspace to spare, anyone can send me their scans. This is webspace I pay for at a provider. I have 3GB. Currently I'm only using 800MB, so no issues yet.
Just give me some time to get a pinned topic, and write some contribution suggestions. If all contributions are consistent, I will have less work posting them.
Anyone interested in contributing, send me a PM to get my email address, or add me as a friend. I'll add you as well and share my email. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I've been slipping on that re-release thread, although most of my discs are the original from either buying them when they came out, or hunting down old ones at used stores. I have come across a couple more in recent audits I didn't realize were re-releases until contributing. I'll send to that thread when I get home after X-Mas. Maybe we should start a sister thread for that where those without scanners can request a particular re-issue cover. I think most of mine are obscure titles most wouldn't want or need, but you just never know. With enough users with scanners willing to scan, almost all requests could be filled I'd guess. |

Yeah there's a few sites like that. I'm a member of one that runs on credit system so they are all hi-res, customs and reatail scans alike. Usually cdcovers are pretty low-res (very low in comparison to r1db) and most are UK discs, but there are some nice scans up there I've used for custom covers of dubs or just plain ugly covers. dvdempire used to have decent pics, but now everything is watermarked and extremely bad quality, probably on purpose to twart bootleggers. Also they don't update everything when the same UPC has a new cover. |
