| Posted: | | | | I find DVD Profiler so nice that I would love to keep track of current Theatrical releases that I watched, even before the DVD/BluRay is out. Is there a way to do so, or should it be a Feature request?
With the 3.6 Beta feature of creating collections, it would be a matter of adding profiles, I guess. Or would it be too much work for Invelos?
Thanks. |

| Posted: | | | | I do not agree with adding it as a feature for the online database. This is DVD profiler (DVD Collection Program) and I would prefer it to stay that way. That is my opinion on it anyway.
Of course you could do this (locally only) by creating manual profiles for whatever you watch. And the upcoming version that is in beta now... you could even make a theatrical release tab to store them in. | | | Pete |

But it will need profiles to be complete. Apart from the name of the software, why do you think the software would be badly affected? It will divert Invelos attention from DVDs? |

| Posted: | | | | I just think Ken's time and effort should be focused on fixing the bugs of the features he already has... as well as improving and adding to what Invelos themselves says this software is for... DVD Collections. I have always been against adding more to the program (any program) then what was intended. Too many times I seen a program go down the crapper because they decided to add to the program more then what it was originally intended for... and that is the last thing I would want to see happen to DVD profiler. | | | Pete |

And where should the info for these profiles come from? Not to mention we would need a whole new way of adding profiles to the database... Not sure how you would get a UPC number or Disc ID for a Theatrical Release you just watched. Keeping in mind that add by title is already used to make manual profiles... which I wouldn't want to see changed or we could end up with all kinds of junk in the main database... such as people's home movies and such. I really believe this is something much better off being a local only solution. | | | Pete |

Apart from the name of the software, why do you think the software would be badly affected? It will divert Invelos attention from DVDs? How are you going to do that. Sit in a Dark theater with a legal pad or maybe even a laptop and write or type like a madman. I wouldn't give ten cents for any degree of accuracy. A tag is a personal piece of data and it is both searchable and hierarchial, it's the way for you to go. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Didn't you submit at one time cast & crew to a profile where you mentioned you typed the credits as they appeared in the theater, using your laptop in the dark? | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | Do what you want locally, just don't contribute the profiles. Rhere are enough DVDs to profile much less the number of profiles you could correct. I've been going through my collection, started with over 3,000 needing CoO, rating or media corrected. I got that number down to about 1,000. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | No Taro, I don't believe I have ever said that. I have said that for a given film I can remember for the top actor to maybe 6 others and usually the director, but I would NOT ever try to plug-in roles. This is only for pre-release data
As an example i went to see Old Dogs last week, I can't remember the Director's name but the main actors in the film were Robin Williams John Travolta Seth Green Kelly Preston Rita Wilson

| Posted: | | | | I gather whatever info I can from the movie's site, then input that into Profiler manually, and put it in my wishlist. When the dvd comes out, I edit (from the disc of course) the entry accordingly, and contribute. I'm doing that with a few movies that are in theaters now, like 2012, Salt, and The Informant!. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

I do the same thing. It's a good way to keep track of theatrical movies that I'm interested in that hasn't been announced for dvd yet. Especially for smaller films. |

I already do that. dvdprofiler is an excellent program to collect movies (and, despite its name, very bad to collect DVDs, I never could track my WII DVDs, ) and you just have to add a manual profile and keep it local when the movie is released in theaters. For data, everything concerning cast and crew can be easily found in many very good sites, and you can add a personal overview which will be undoubtly better than the one we'll find later on the cover of the DVD, full of advertising and spoilers. You have just to leave blank everything which only concerns the DVD itself (audio, subtitles, SRP...). And you will see that when the DVD is released, you'll have very few work to complete your local profile. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks, I appreciate the considerate input. After considering the mostly sound opinions (and a little bad sarcasm ), I am considering keeping track of films watched in another free software that can get info directly from websites, and then adding later the ones I really like to my wish list in Profiler. For me, one of the great values of DVD Profiler and the likes is the optimization, so adding all films watched manually is not attractive to me, although I totally understand why some of you do so. Also, I use Profiler Mobile and don't know when it will be able to handle more than the 3 standard collections. Thanks. |
