In my collection I have a DVD that came with a book, the documentary film Blond, Blue Eyes (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0847872/). It hasn't been released separately. The DVD is located in an envelope inside the book of Rutger Hauer's autobiography. The DVD doesn't have a UPC/EAN code of its own. When I wanted to enter the DVD in my profiler collection I saw that the DVD was entered in the database by the UPC code of the book. I thought that DVDs could be entered by DVD-based UPC/EAN codes only, so I entered the DVD by disc-ID. Now someone tried to remove it out of the database, because it is already in the database by the Book UPC and that UPC code is visible on the back cover scan of the book. I voted No because the UPC code of the book cannot be used. My No-vote was the only vote but the contribution got through anyway. Now I'm confused, since when do we allow UPC codes of books?

If it is a bonus feature it shouldn't be entered as a stand-alone profile at all.

It's not a bonus feature either, because it isn't released as part of a box set or another DVD. Maybe if books were allowed to be entered, but that's out of the question.

From the 'What to Contribute' section of the rules:

“DVD Video”: These discs, included as bonus discs with CDs or video games are accepted, but only contribute the DVD Video information.

I don't see why that wouldn't extend to DVDs that are included as bonus discs with a book.  It should, however, be submitted using the disc id, not the UPC of the book.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

If that's the case, I apologize for flagging the disc id for deletion. Corne, could you please recontribute?

It was a long time ago (pre-Invelos) that the DVD for the book The Lost Chronicles was submitted and accepted. It was resubmitted by m.cellophane and in the online database today, using the disc ID. The front and back covers of the book were scanned and are the current cover scans.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
