| Posted: | | | | I've encountered a profile where the previous contributor has succeeded in getting a "special sound effects" credit into the database as a "sound designer". There's nothing specific about this in the notes - it was just one entry among a much wider crew update. Does "special sound effects" indeed qualify as "sound designer", and should I start entering them as such (I've seen about a dozen of these, and I've been tracking them locally using the custom crew feature) or should I try to remove this entry from the online profile? | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | I don't see it listed as an option in the Sound section in the Credits table. I can see where someone might consider that an equivalent title, but I wouldn't. A Sound Designer does add sound effects to the audio to given it more life, but the credit of "special sound effects by" doesn't really sound like the same job to me. That credit could mean that they just created the sound effect audio file/recording that the Sound Designer then mixed into the soundtrack. I would say it's inccorect and you are in all rights to remove it from the profile. | | | Chris | | | Last edited: by cmaeditor |

| Posted: | | | | @T!m I'm not sure of the specific profile to which you are referring, but that really doesn't matter. The two job descriptions don't sound like "Equivalents" to me either. I have to agree with the others and say go to remove it. Rory | | | DVD Profiler for iOS as of 3/5/2013 DVD Profiler for Android as of 5/17/2013 |

| Posted: | | | | Add me to the agreement here, tho I know jack s**t about sound crew. But it isn't listed on the crew chart, so I'd scrap it. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | I would remove it also. I don't really know much about sound crew, but if special sound effects is the same then it would be mentioned in the rules as well. | | | Cor |
