Good day, Sirs,

how is it that the same UPC is counted several times?

Why doesn't each UPC represents only one specific profile?

Love, bbbbb

The only reason that I can think of is that the same UPC can apply to more than one locality.

Or to more than one locality. Here in Scandinavia there's sometimes a DVD release for Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark under the same UPC.

Oops sorry, I meant locality! Thanks for spotting my "deliberate" mistake!

Thank you, Sirs.

Too bad the CLT does not differentiate real releases with same UPC for another locality, from non-existing ones.

Who will ever update the profile of a non-existing release? At least no one who is trustworthy. Who will vote?

The problem is not the wrong numer of profiles, but that the non-existing releases with their questionable Original Titles have a bearing on the CLT title result, so affecting Common Names, with their questionable credits.

Initial contributions are handled far too careless.

What do you mean by "non-existing" profiles. Profiles with same UPC's, but different localities are very valid entries. Different SRP, release date, currency, Rating, Rating Details... etc.

This also includes incorrect localities. Many times, when checking for CLT results, I look for incorrect profiles in locality UK, unfortunately the locality with the most incorrect entries due to a conversion from years ago. Mark them for deletion, while checking if the correct locality exists. It helps, but only in small steps.

Of course.

When I asked I was not aware of the great number of un-unique UPCs ("the preferred method of entry due to the uniqueness of UPC codes").

From which the CLT only displays a partial quantity, because of faulty credits.

So some exist, others don't. And others again are missing.

During the last few days I thought about non-existing releases and their profiles, Sir.

A german cover in a UK profile might be a piece of circumstantial evidence that that release doesn't exist.

Or, the profile has only wrong images.

Damn! Existence is easier to prove than non-existence.
