| Posted: | | | | Hey all, Quick question. The latest DVD re-issues and Blurays of Eyes Wide Shut, The Shining, 2001, Full Metal Jacket and Clockwork Orange all have Stanley Kubrick's on the cover. Does this qualify as a possessive, and should they be included in the title? Example: Not quite visible, but you can check upc 7321931806725 (for instance) Please hold the endless discussions, just a simple 'include' or 'don't include' will do. Thanks for your input! |

| Posted: | | | | Most (if not all) of my Kubrick DVD's and Blu-rays show his name above the title on the front cover, but the back cover's credit blocks all show just the main title in italics.
Looking at the online back cover (7321931806725) that you posted, the credit block only shows "A Clockwork Orange" | | | Corey |

Please hold the endless discussions, just a simple 'include' or 'don't include' will do. Thanks for your input! There is no simple 'include' or 'don't include' answer. The rules tell us to look at the credit block on the back of the DVD case. In the example you gave, the possesive is not present in the credit block so would not be included. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I'm not talking about possessives in general, but about the Kubrick titles in particular. The results are pretty clear. Thanks everyone! |

| Posted: | | | | What they are saying is even the results of the Kubrick titles can be different. One Kubrick title could need the possessive in the title and another could need to be left out of the title... it all depends on what is in the credit block on the back cover of the DVD. | | | Pete |

Sorry, I don't mean to be a smart-ass, but it just struck me that way that while saying it's not simple, a very simple method was explained. I've gone through this on many John Carpenter and Steven King films. |

He said, "Please hold the endless discussions, just a simple 'include' or 'don't include' will do." Because it is done on a case by case basis, I couldn't give him what he wanted. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
