I've now seen two contributions about "Stargate: The Ark of Truth" (024543548737) slip cover. Under normal circumstances, I would vote yes as the cover is reflective and thus one of the cover art would be fine.

Now, the rules state:
If a DVD is packaged in a keep case, within a slipcase of some kind, scan the Cover Images from the outer slipcase. If, however, the Slipcase is reflective, and the inner cover art is identical, use the Keep Case art to scan, as it will give a better quality image.

However, it also says:
HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs in either HD Slim or HD Keep Case type cases without slip covers should be scanned without the HD banner.

Now, I voted no because while indeed the slip cover scan is very dark, doing one that is not the slip cover would mean you have to uncheck the slip cover box so the BD banner would show up on the profile...

What does everyone think? Is this sort of a Catch 22 or something?

If I had a situation like that, I would scan the inner cover but include the HD banner (maybe adding the one from the slip cover afterwards via image editing) so it still shows even with slip cover ticked.
Note the rule says to scan without the banner for "keep cases without slip covers", so I see this as being within the rules and preserving the intent of the cover image display.

I've done this once or twice when the slipcover was hard to scan, stated what i did in the notes and it wasn't an issue.  YMMV.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Slip cover of a Blu-ray? See at issue is when you do so, you have to uncheck the slip cover checkbox, but of course this title has a slip cover. But leaving it checked then wouldn't show the BD banner above the cover art (if the current contributions were approved) as DVDP automatically does on HD DVD and Blu-ray cases.

Does that make sense? lol

Also, the front cover isn't THAT bad, I think I'd be willing to vote yes if they just submitted the back cover instead of both...

Sorry, yes I am confused! Why are you unchecking the slip cover box? That box is not there to tell you what the scans are of, it's only there to tell you the original release came with a slip cover.
There's no reason why you can't have the slip cover box ticked, but still have keep case scans - that's why I specified to include the banner in your scans - so it would still be visible (this is on the assumption that the slip cover itself has a banner).

Edit: I see now it's not your scans, but you're looking for voting advice. It sounds like, technically, there's nothing wrong with the submission, though I may have done it differently, so really it all comes down to image quality as to how you vote.

See, here's the thing: With Blu-ray covers, the PROGRAM will automatically put the Blu-ray banner above the cover art if the slip cover check box is unchecked, if that is checked then it will not as the rules state to then submit scans of the slip cover itself which, more often than not will already have the Blu-ray banner on top.

So, we have two contributors trying to submit better scans but the problem is, if their contributions are accepted one of two things are going to have to happen: 1. The slip cover check box will be left checked and thus no Blu-ray banner or 2. the check box is unchecked and the program will provide the banner. Problem is, with option 2, now we don't know that the original release came with a slip cover...

Edit: Nevermind, I get what you're saying... Personally, I prefer knowing if a certain title came with a slip cover or not and with both contributions, neither one pasted the banner on top, so one of those previous 2 options described is going to happen.

If you really wanted to, you could vote "no" and say that because the release has a slip cover you need to include the banner in the scan. It's a bit harsh, but would make for an improved contribution.

If I'm reading you right, one of the submissions is removing the slip cover checkbox - that would have to get a "no" vote anyway regardless of the scans as the online database has to show the original release came with a slip cover.
