| Posted: | | | | I uploaded a contribution yesterday for the alien box-set and got 3 negative responses and was told the information was for child profiles. I have probably got this wrong as well but i don't understand what that means. Maybe I'm stupid. I returned to my local page and downloaded child profiles for my box-sets but I can't work out what exactly has happened. Can someone help? I have had DVD profiler for a while now and was very reluctant to upload my list in case I made a mess, now I think I was right. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, child profiles are profiles for the movies within each box set. Consider the boxset the parent profile, which basically is the box the movies came in. So that profile just gets basic information...overview, srp, that's about it. Child profiles, however, have the information for each movie. So each child profile is a movie, Alien, Aliens and so on. The rules here give more details as well. A lot of new contributers will see an empty profile and want to add to it, but in the case of box sets, that's what is required. If you haven't already, give the rules a look through, feel free to ask questions, we all still do! | | | Lori |

It sounds compluicated, a lot of things do until you play with it. It is really very easy.

| Posted: | | | | First thing you should do is flag your Alien boxset profile then (in the most up to date version of Profiler) go to Collection -> Flagged -> Check for Child Profiles. It's possible all the work's already been done for you. Another option is to stick the DVDs into a DVD-Rom drive in your PC and see if it can find any of the child profiles for you - though you may need to attach these to your boxset manually. |

Second, it can seem a little complicated if you aren't used to it. Though we sometimes argue amongst ourselves, we are more than happy to help out. | Posted: | | | | Cheers guys I think I get it now. Yesterday after I posted my reply I left the forums to go to bed. As I was closing down my local list i noticed the little plus sign beside my box set profiles when I clicked on and hey presto everything appeared. I had already downloaded the child profiles and as northbloke says everything was already done, I just didn't notice the plus sign. How dopey am I eh, anyway feel happier now I can see what's happening. Thanks again. |
