| Posted: | | | | The movie is "Starship Troopers".. and the credits say: Creature Visual Effects Supervisor - Phil Tippett Spaceship Visual Effects Supervisor - Scott E. Anderson ILM Visual Effects Supervisor - Scott Squires Boss Film Visual Effects Supervisor - Jim Rygiel Another Question about Visual Effects Crew... Why do Designer, Supervisor and Director get credited and Producer not? Sometimes these are the only ones mentioned... | | | Last edited: by MakoDeth |

| Posted: | | | | Ok, I missed the money aspect for prodcuer As I'm already on it... "Starship Troopers" again... "Asteroid Grazing Visual Effects Sequence by Boss Film Studios Visual Effects Supervisor - David M. Jones Digital Effects Supervisor - Thomas Dadras ... Visual Effects Producer - Gayle Busby ..." I saw this always more on the effects-making and not money side |

I wouldn't credit them. They each only worked on parts of the movie, making them kinda like unit crew and we don't do unit crew. But that's just me. I wouldn't add them myself but I wouldn't vote against the change either. | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity |

By that definition we could drop all the Sound guys (only worked on sound), the Music guys, all the Art people... We could reduce the credits to a nice neat Director/Writers/Producers/Film Editors. I like it! Edit: i personally have no issue with the credits proposed. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! | | | Last edited: by tweeter |

| Posted: | | | | According to the rules they are 'Individual Credits' and Visual Effects Supervisors is one of the listed allowed credits to be entered.
The only thing not allowed to be entered into the credits is the Company itself, so ILM or Boss Film Studios can't be credited (well they could, but be kept local).
If these were to be treated as Unit Crew then should we carry this over to the Sound Crew as well? Because quite a few Sound Crew are sometimes listed under a company header as well. I can think of one right off of my head, Skywalker Sound.
If we were to treat any crew listed under a Company Header then many of the Sound Crew may have to be removed because I have seen quite a few listed under companies such as Skywalker Sound. |

| Posted: | | | | My point of view: No credits for sub-companies who worked on the film. Especially concerning VFX Supervisors there is almost always at least one Supervisor listed at the beginning of the credits as main person directly for the production of the movie. The other (sometimes a lot!) VFX Supervisors are listed at the end of the credits under the name of their FX company and don't have that main responsability. |

I understand how you see it, but one could just as well argue that this specifically excludes additional VFX credits under such headers in favour of the lone ("individual") overall VFX credit. |

| Posted: | | | | Well - then have fun with the crediting 10 or more VFX Supervisors as seen in some newer FX movies... Oh - not to forget all the make-up artists... | | | Last edited: by david mann |

| Posted: | | | | I did the profile for the Special Edition of the film a while ago and this is what the art crew portion looks like. Quote: Allan Cameron: Production Designer Ellen Mirojnick: Costume Designer Phil Tippett: Visual Effects Scott E. Anderson: Visual Effects Scott Squires: Visual Effects Jim Rygiel: Visual Effects John Richardson: Visual Effects Steve Wolff: Art Director Bruce Robert Hill: Art Director John Blake: Make-up Artist Bill Myer: Make-up Artist William E. Dawson, Jr.: Visual Effects Doug Hubbard: Visual Effects Nick Karas: Visual Effects Barry L. McQueary: Visual Effects Frank L. Pope: Visual Effects Dennis A. Yeager: Visual Effects Wes Mattox: Visual Effects Daniel Radford: Visual Effects David M. Jones: Visual Effects Thomas Dadras: Visual Effects Alec Gillis: Visual Effects Tom Woodruff, Jr.: Visual Effects Mark Sullivan: Visual Effects Van Ling: Visual Effects Sure it's time consuming and all. But after doing it for awhile I start to notice certain names coming up more frequently than others. |
