| Posted: | | | | Hi all,
I gave up on the 3d box as it really would take up too much resources... but I like to browse through my collection and see my covers in a large box, but to view the front and the back can be a serious annoyance.
A simple feature that will auto-change from front to back and vice versa, say every 5 seconds (even better, let us choose) would be awesome!
I'm sure a simple effect would be even nicer, like fade from one to the other, etc.
What do you all think? Good/bad feature? would you like to see it? |

| Posted: | | | | LOL well there you go... I suppose it would help to explain WHY I want it. I think it would be handy to be able to find covers in your collection that need updating Anyway... they say no idea is a bad idea LOL But I guess it's better to come up with an idea that nobody wants, then to not come up with ideas at all |

| Posted: | | | | Well...does anyone know if there is a shortcut to change from the front to back cover? ie. a keyboard shortcut? |

| Posted: | | | | I don't display covers in my collection list, I have the list-only display variant. And when I select a profile I see front and backcover on top of each other. Sorry, no interest here either. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Interesting idea. I'm sure that among the thousands users of dvdprofiler that do not come here to give their opinion, many would love this. As it is a personal choice for users and probably easy to implement for programmer, why not ? Thanks for the idea | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | I believe there are/were layout skins available that revolved the covers when viewing a profile, would that suffice? | | | |

For what it's worth, my Database Query plug-in (see my signature) will also help you find covers that need updating. It will find any profiles missing a front and/or back cover. It can also search for profiles that have matching front and back covers. It can also find profiles where the height and/or width is >, <, =, etc. the specified dimensions (helpful for finding those small thumbnail sized images). | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. As for the request, I'd have no use for it myself but I have no objection either (as long as its optional of course). As for the shortcut comment I wouldn't mind being able to switch the front and back covers with the mouse wheel. |

Thanks for the idea You could be right that many users who don't voice their opinion here might indeed appreciate this. Howver, unless there is a significant interest shown in it here (more than just you and icefrye) I don't see why Ken would care to spend any time implementing it. It might not be hard to do, but if he only knows of 2 users who want it, I doubt he'd want to spend much time on it. On the shortcut idea, maybe it could be set up to switch from front to back cover on a mouseover - without having to click on anything. I've seen this done in at least one DVD vendor site. The front cover is normally displayed, but when you move your cursor over onto the cover the back cover is displayed. When you move the cursor off the cover, the front cover is displayed again. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. | Posted: | | | | Well i'm glad that there are some people who may like this feature I'm still keen for it. The 3d box was an idea that I posted a little while ago in this forum. I would have loved to see a 3d slowly spinning box of the dvd case as an option. But most people thought it would use too many resources, that who knows... they may be right Still, I thought if a website can do this... i'm pretty sure DVDP can handle it. As for how this can help identify covers that need updating, i'm talking about the low resolution covers that drive me nuts... not the profiles without covers at all. Mind you, your database query sounds like it will help me out with the empty profiles, thanks! |

LOL... owned Anyway.. .i'd still like to see an improvement on the covers feature. Whether it auto cycles, or there's shortcuts, whatever... there's still huge room for improvement. | | | Last edited: by icefyre |
