It depends what you mean with "correct". The non-standard description taken from the DVD box is "The George Lucas Director's Cut" and this is correct for the online, but since George Lucas is the Director it would seem that "The George Lucas"-part is redundant and so just "Director's Cut" can be correct for your local.

I don't see any edition on the cover which would be worth to be entered IMO. I would leave the field empty. But then I don't really care about the edition field.

To leave the field empty would be wrong.

IMO "The George Lucas Director's Cut" would be the only correct way to enter it according to the rules.

Depends on what you consider an edition. Remember, not every string on the cover is an edition. Otherwise most profiles would have the edition "DVD".

The rules also state "It's usually safe to use one of the built-in selections if appropriate." So, "Director's Cut" may be safe to use.

But as I have stated, I don't care about this field, and you can enter whatever you feel valid.

I would go with "Director's Cut" as well, but I don't have strong feelings on this either.

I second this choice. Director's Cut is clearly a version AND there is a variant version available. If this were the only available version then a version would not be needed but in this case it does need to be distinquishable.

Agreed.  Whether or not someone feels it is worth entering is a non-issue.  The edition is on the cover and should be entered.

I beg to differ (obvioulsy), as the edition field is meant to indicate different versions of said title. For you to proclaim that "you don't care" about the edition field would IMO leave your preferences moot in this thread, and you should thus refrain from patricipating in this discussion...

Don't know how many directors have worked on this film, but my guess is that the George Lukas' Directors Cut, will be the only Directors Cut. And you should use edition for distinguishing between DVDs.

So going with the entire thing, would in my opinion be like: "Mickey Mouse: On Holiday: Disney DVD 2 Disc Directors Cut Widescreen Edition."

I agree. It easily fits into the edition field, matches the actual cover exactly as it appears, and is easy to locate in the database.

I had voted for "The George Lucas Director's Cut", but that designation would not distinguish this release from the previous 1-disc "The George Lucas Director's Cut" release.  Is there another designation on the spine or back?  Otherwise, something else should be added, maybe "2-disc" in parentheses, to distinguish it.

This would make sense in any other case, but we are talking about George Lucas here and the probablity if another version/cut is far greater than any other director. I wouldn't be shocked to see the "Final Lucas Cut" or "Extreme Lucas Cut" or some other dumb shiitake mushroom down the road.

Per the rules... to add anything other then the built in selections it must be on the case... so if 2-disc is not on the case you couldn't submit it to the online database.

Understood.  It might be a good idea to amend the rules for such a case where the Edition possibilities allowed by the rules are insufficient to distinguish the DVDs.  Locally, I will amend "(Steelbook)" or "(Lenticular Slipcover)" in order to distinguish from otherwise identical releases.  I think the rules should allow such a thing where necessary.

Okay, so people can't exactly agree here, but since there are twice as many votes for option two, I'll go with that. Actually, that is what I would ahve entered to start with, but as I said; I have been wrong before...
