I have been having a discussion with a voter on one of my submissions about if a title on the packaging has "Complete XXX" listed, where XXX is either Series, Collection, Box Set, or Season Y, does the "Complete XXX" part go in the title of the edition field.

The rules have "Season indicators, if listed on the cover, should be entered as part of the title" where we disagreed on was if Collection or was just another way of saying of "all seasons" and should be part of the title or moved into the Edition field.

In my collection I find many entries containing:

Complete Collection
Complete Series
Complete Box Set
Complete Season Y (or Complete Y Season)

I would say about 65-70% of all sets in my collection have all of the above in the title field.  However, I do see as the person pointed out a good number are not.  I was unable to find a thread about this in the forums so was looking for some feed back on this.

Tom:

They should be a part of the title, you can then for example if you wish make XXXX the ORIGINAL title. I don't see quite as much variation in it as you wrote about but some, yes.

I would keep it part of the title, not edition.

I have to go with the rest here.. M.A.S.H: The complete Series - one would hope that by that type of title they really mean all the seasons hehe ;-)

lostmule,

Couldn't M.A.S.H just as easily fall under the box set rules since it contains multiple seasons?

A follow-up to question posed by the original poster:

What if the "Complete XXXX" is present on two or more separate disks in the same season?  The disks were not packaged together and carry separate UPCs.

Very common with some Universal Tv Series, wht hawk. You would handle it precisely the same as you would a set of moviues, each with THEIR own UPC.

Instead of using Disc ID as we would with the majority of TV series, these would be entered via their UPC, you didn' mention a title but I would suspect that it ius highly likely that the Profiles have been setup already, hopefully correctly.

Absolutely! (V+) here!

On the contribution I have downloaded from invelos, I believe it is precisely how you have mentioned it is.

When I was looking at that 'multiple' contribution and saw that each seasons front/back cover were added, I told my self 'meh' why not... plus, these discs ID could have been the same as, for example: MASH: Complete First Season... as the one they would have inserted in the 'massive' complete series' box (see what I mean?

I really enjoy reading the post left by this crew of collectors... you guys all make senses in how to go ahead, just difficult to know which one is 'more' right though haha ;-)

Most of the complete box sets fall under the box set rule since the individual seasons within are individually packed.

I know of the red US Friends box where the discs are not packed by season but in six boxes with the images of the main chars. And the british Xena box has all discs in a folder-like structure.

But apart from that my other complete boxes carry season boxes which are often sold individually, too.
