How do I know if a DVD Cover Scan has already been "contributed"?

I tried to search for this answer, but the search kept timing-out.  Sorry.

Anyway, I recently contributed a cover scan, only to learn someone else had already contributed it.  How do you check for that?  I don't want to be redundant (unless I think my scan is better).

Also, is there a way to "revoke" my contribution, so as not to waste people's time?

When you submitted there should have been a side-by-side screen with all changes, including old and new scans.  It may take a day or so after approval for a newly approved scan to be visible in the side-by-side comparison.  At the top of the same page should be a recent history of submissions.  It's always wise to see if you are stepping on another current submission.

If you decide you don't want to submit just click the cancel button at the bottom of the page.

To withdraw you submission go to this page, click the title in question and then click Withdraw.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Regarding searches: the Search feature of the forums is not its strongpoint. You'll get better (and faster) results using Google with "site:invelos.com" preceding your search terms.

Unless you know your scan is inferior why not let the voters decide which is the better version?

but otherwise as has been mentioned fro removing.

Also just before submitting, you can click on "View Contributors" in Profiler, then click on "View Notes" and this will let you quickly see if there are any pending submissions that may affect yours.

As well as what others have said, if you have uploaded your collection for online display here and are a paid user (and I see you have and are), then from the top menu on this site you can go to
Database > Contributions > All Pending Updates
and look for the title you are contributing.  If it's there, there's a contribution pending and you can review it.
If it's not there, as Northbloke posted you can look at the notes to see when and what previous changes were made (it may take up to a week though for recent changes to become available for you to download - a few days for voting, plus a few hours for the screeners to review, and a few more hours to make it into the database.)
