Hello,

as i am doing alot of contribution work these days (it's fun you know it ), I am constantly coming up on some inconsistency on BoX SETS.
i would like some opinions and answers from you all.

I am talking about a slip case, that has several movies into it, for example Alien Quadrilogy, Sister Streetfighter Collection.

Which fields have to be definitely left blank on the slip case ?

As far as my understanding goes the following:
STUDIOS
Crew
Cast
Disk IDS
Rating Details
Features
Audio Subtitles
Easter Eggs

About those I am not so sure:
ASPECT RATIO as in Widescreen, 2.35:1 and Anamorphic or not.
CoO

I hope you all can help me and enlighten me, if this is correct and clear the two points I am not so sure about.
Thx in advance for every input.

greetings
Donnie

General rule: Only put in the boxset profile which applies for every movie in that box set.

Regarding rating details, it probably depends on your country but I've got at least one that does have a one on the cover of the box set.

Have a look at 5039036028707 (Ice Age Double Pack) UK release. It has "Contains mild adventure peril, language and innuendo". That applies to both films so can be added in that case.

Not  a bad point, but that would mean if an actor or a Sound Engineer appears in all movies of the box set, you would list him/them in the slip case profile too.
i don't think we are doing this.

Yup, cast&crew is never added as per the rules.

from the box sets section of the contribution rules,

"In addition to the above, the following are not included on the box set profile: Subtitles, Audio & Disc Features. List them with the individual profiles."

i've always thought it strange that it never mentioned video format, personally i don't include video format whenever i contribute but since it doesn't explicitly state either way in the rules then it becomes a personal preference. maybe the next time the rules are updated, they will clarify this.

When the rules were first published, it was not possible to create a profile with no video information, so the box set rules could not exclude it. Since then, the program has evolved, but the rule has not. So, while providing video information for a box is not prohibited by the rules, it doesn't really serve any purpose to be there. I would leave it out, but would not vote against a profile that included it.

Only discIDs, Easter eggs, credits, subtitles, audio, and disc features have to be left empty by the rules. For every other field any information which is valid for the complete set is allowed.

Donnie:

Do NOT include Video data. The reason for what you see, is that in the not too distant past, Video data was required to be filled in in order to Contribute. Thus you may well find a Boxset that may have Widescreen and FF ticked without any aspect ratio. Yes, this is yet another case where the program has exceeded Ken's maintenance of the Rules.

I see ant helped fill in the background as well

It is still not possible to create a profile with no video information. Unavoidably you include 'NTSC' or 'PAL'.
Therefore the box set rules cannot exclude the whole Video Formats section.

Is there a single box set which contains films in NTSC and PAL?

I HIGHLY doubt there is a boxset that has PAL and NTSC mixed

I agree with skip and others, I will not fill in any video data, only the PAl or NTSC part.

Thx to all for clearing this up.
