I am hoping somebody can help me with this query and let me know what is acceptable. I am in the middle of compiling cast and crew details for a TV series and the IMDB is useless for this particular series as there are only limited credits for the series.

According to the rules another source is permitted when the roles don't appear in the closing credits. Typically the IMDB is fairly good and can be used for most TV programs, but in the case of the series I am working on it is not accurate at all.

I am using other websites as sources but these don't seem to be entirely accurate either, but they are better than the IMDB. For example on some episodes there are voice actors listed in the closing credits, but on the websites the actor is not listed but all the characters are.

From watching each episode I know which regular character appears and the guest characters. Even though a regular voice actor is assigned a guest character on the websites the guest actor is not listed. In cases like this, what can I do? After watching the episodes in question I suspect the guest actor has voiced the guest character. Am I permitted to use my own evaluation of these kind of situations and assign the role I suspect to the voice actor?

In some cases the websites don't list the guest cast, while I know who the regular cast are can I assign a role from an educated guess?  If making an educated guess is not sufficient will I assign their regular guest role instead even though that character doesn't appear?

I would be very appreciative of any advice somebody has to offer on this.

By the way the official website for this TV series is worse than useless for a source of cast and crew information.

If someone has extensive knowledge of a series and can discern the role names, I see no problem documenting this method in the notes.

The only thing I can think to add is when you watch an episode or 2 (or 12) next, grab a pencil and paper and make a note when someone is called by name, note the name and time, and of course episode and disc #. This would be acceptable I'm sure.
