Right because I look at it the opposite way... Star Wars IV A New Hope.... the IV is in back... meaning that it is placed on the cover before A New Hope... so the IV should come before what is on top of it.

And as was said... episode is on the front cover no where.

Just because something is not correct per the most anal interpretation of the Rules, does not mean that you are REQUIRED to submit a change to the profile!

Agree 100%

For the record I voted NO.

IF we are going with exactly what you see on the front cover the titles would have to be formatted like this:

Star Wars: A New Hope: IV

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: III

etc.

The roman numerals are clearly shown behind all of the other text. If we are going to do it per the rules without any variation then the current submissions are wrong. (IMO  )

Of course you would, Rick. You are among those that tsupported the change but now choose NOT to live by it. All you have to do, fella is follow the Rules, which you fairly clearly do not do.

The issue is not whether the change is required, though some users like to leverage their votes to force changes that they want made. The issue is whether the change is correct per the Rules , Hal. We had a Rules change, which if my memory serves you were vociferously in support of...so live with it, my friend.

I was not in favor of the change and remain so, but the Rule WAS changed. Obviously you have one objective to totally disagreeable and nasty. Enjoy yourself, sir, I have more important things to be concerned with.

Your memory does not serve you.  Hal does not like this rule change any more than you do...or did you miss this exact same discussion when he made the exact same contributions?
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Well Rick,

As Cliff said, all rules are subject to some level of interpretation. But no matter how you look at it, the word "Episode" is not on the cover.

I have to agree with Gunnar.  You are talking about formatting, which is going to be open to interpretation.  The word 'Episode' is not on the cover...no interpretation needed there.

Agree with both of you about Episode not being on the cover so not in the title

Using that logic it should be

I've made my point many times over the years.  The rules can, and will, never be able to handle every situation we have.  The very nature of the creative process in making movies encourages the producers and writers to come up with ways to set themselves apart from the others.  So, we need to be able to apply some common sense, which most members of this community are quite capable of, to get the DVD information into the database in a reasonable manner.

We can apply common sense when the Rules are not clear. But in this case the Rules are clear: take the title from the cover.
This cover has "Episode" on it
This has not

Your point is?

Those who have the top cover would list one title and those with the bottom have another title. The vagaries of using the cover instead of the film which would have the same title on it.<shrugs>

As usual, your memory sucks.

I have never been in favor of taking the Title from anywhere but the actual film credits.  The previous title Rule merely needed minor modifications to accommodate non-R1 profiles.

And as usual, you miss my point entirely.

This modification was submitted a month ago.  A furor was raised at that time with the vast majority of users being against changing these specific titles.

The changes were withdrawn in deference to that outcry.

DVDP and Invelos have carried on in the interim with these titles being "technically" wrong in the database for an entire month and guess what.  The end of the world did not come.

There would have been absolutely no harm in letting sleeping dogs lie.

But then again, some people simply crave the guaranteed limelight that this would shine on them!

As usual Hal, your comment is unnecessary and inflammatory. can you NOT READ. Did you not see where I acknowledged what Unicus. What a total ass.

As for your reference to your previous Contribution, who cares, certainly not me.  What I care about is what the Rules say, NOT the plain and simple fact that despite your opposition, mine and others, the majority got what they wanted. Now we all have to pay for that victory whether we like it or not...NO EXCEPTIONS. As far as I am concerned you should have left yous up, you were right. As I recall I cast a neutral vote on yours because I was still evaluating that situation. But I WILL stand my ground, the Rules say what they say and that is the end of that subject. I don't like it, as I have stated, but so what about what I like or don't, it is what it is. Am I all broken up over it....NO, I am only amused.

The new submission does technically follow the rules. Since Ken deleted the episode example in the rules I’m afraid I would be wrong in voting no on this contribution. I do not like it and I refuse to vote yes for something I see as incorrect. My only recourse is to vote neutral and to lock those titles in my local database. This is an option available to every user and can be done quite easily and without being nasty to one another! Try it…you’ll like it!
