We currently have a single season of 24 up for vote in the UK Locality, which I have voted NO to due to the fact that TV Series are not considered BOX SETS unless they are of MULTI Season's.

Yet despite this over voters have voted yes.

Have I missed something in the Forum's or are people just blindly voting yes to the other part of the Contribution, which I may add...I am in favour of because it actually corrects a mistake in the profile.

Oppinions Please?

From the rules:

Quote:
Disc-level Profiles

Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired, but this is not required. Add these profiles to the box set contents of the parent profile. When submitting a change to an existing TV series profile that is currently a box set, do not remove the existing contents.

In either case, the cast and crew are to be entered into the parent profile using appropriate episode dividers.

This was added to the rules on 4th April.

As Gadgeteer points out, it is now absolutely fine to add child profiles for TV series BUT all the normal cast/crew/audio etc data is also retained in the parent profile for those that don't wish to use the (optional) child profiles.

AIUI it makes no difference to any other user because if you do a download of the parent profile all the child profile data is lost when it is added to your collection anyway and it is only useful online for doing a 'preview' so you can find out which other profiles you need to download if you want to use the children.

Stuart & Justin

Yes I know you can add the Episode Dividers, Child Profiles etc I even use the myself, going as far as creating individual child profiles for each disc.

But the Question was since when has a TV Series HAD BOX SET CONTENTS.
Perhaps I did.t make that too clear.

Since posting this question, I have gone into DVDP, into my wishlist, click on ADD changed my Regions to ANY then looked at all other localities version of 24
Yes Disc ID's are added which is the way it shouls be, but NOWHERE is there
BOX SET CONTENTS.

Which is what is trying to be added to the current UK version up for voting.

That is all I am asking when was a TV series/season changed to a BOX SET
nothing about adding child profiles, disc level profiles or anything else...just pure and simply about TV series being a BOX SET.

It happened as soon as Ken signed off on child profiles... he changed the rules to say...

It has been a long time now that you are supposed to add the child profiles to the boxset content of the parent profile. According to the Revision History it was back on April 4th.

MUST you be so aggressive about this? The poor chap is just doing what everyone else has been doing since April, do you really have to resort to BOLD CAPITALS and shining a spotlight on him?

Yes, this is now common practice across the board. I'm surprised this is the first time you've come across it, but seriously, softly softly.

As long as no data is removed from the parent nobody should have a problem. The box set content is nowhere visible or otherwise distracting from the DVD Profiler experience.

I am not disputing the child profiles etc, but as I said in my last post I have checked with other localities versions of 24 all have added Episode Dividers, Child Profiles etc.

But nowhere has changed the Prolife to being a Box Set, despite having changed the profile since April.
Everywhere else still has the Disc's listed under the Disc ID area, none under Box Set that is all I'm asking .

It's highlighted in bright yellow on the TV series page.

Not sure I understand completely... is the contribution only adding the discs to the Boxset content field... or is the contribution also removing data from the parent profile?

If all they are doing is adding boxset content to the parent profile... it is a correct contribution... as it is right in the rules to do so.

If they are also taking data out of the parent profile (like we do with movie box sets) then they are going against the rules as they also say to keep all the existing data for TV Series sets in the parent profile as well.

The contribution is only adding the box set details. The Disc IDs are not being removed.

Then the contribution is 100% correct. Doing exactly what the rules states to do.

Yes, it is a box set.  All five seasons of 24 have been done as box sets, with child profiles, the whole works.

No the contribution in question is changing Episode Divider Headings from
1 - knaebenr
2 - jbnb/ae
etc, to
1. knaebenr
2. jbnb/ae
etc. This I'm not disputing, as this is as agreed in the Forums for Episode Divider Headings
number. episode title
that I AGREE with.
what is being changed but has remained the same for all other Localities is the normal TV Series disc profiling. Under the TV Series Rules about Disc IDs it states

>Label each of the discs containing episodes of the series. If there is a separate disc of extras with no >episodes, use the standard "Bonus Materials" description.

But under Box Set Rules it states for the same item

>Do not include any Disc IDs on the main profile - these are listed on each of the individual profiles.

I have looked at other Profiles for the TV Series 24...from USA, Canada, Australia, France, Germany etc people in those localities have added the Episode Dividers , child profiles etc but the Parent profile has remained with the Disc IDs, this one is removing the Disc IDs and replacing them with Box Set Contents when No Other Locality has.
