| Posted: | | | | This may be a stupid question, but better safe than sorry... I just came across a DVD where both the cover and the audio selection screen says "Dolby Digital EX 5,1". So I enter it as "Dolby Digital Surround EX", but then the little icon in the sound-section shows 6.1... DVD-shrink shows AC-3 5.1, DVD Audio Extractor shows 6 channels, which I assume is the same as 5.1 (for a total of 6)... So, what should I enter into Profiler? "Dolby Digital Surround EX" or "Dolby Digital 5.1"? As far as I can see, logic dictates the latter, but logic doesn't always follow the rules... | | | The future is here. I'm not familiar with the software you're using but not all EX soundtracks are flagged as such. It is a matrix surround format so back surround channel is carried in the two rear surround channels and then separated by the decoder. So there are 6.1 channels encoded physically into 5.1 channels. | | | Last edited: by Squirrelecto |
