It might be an incomplete profile, poorly parsed name or small cover image off the web. But are some information better than no information?

I would say so. There is the danger that someone who would do a profile properly from scratch might not do so if there's already some stuff there, but if such people aren't bothered about the quality of the profile, they don't lose out by it being incomplete.

IMO generally yes - and especially at this time when Invelos is trying to build up their database.

The only proviso I would say is with regards to cover images off the web - not if they include any form of site copyright info, they are clearly prohibited by the rules for legal reasons.

My opiniotn is it is better to have any, small amount of information so long as it is within the Rules.

I would rather have no data than bad data so if it's 'questionable' then I say leave it out and just contribute what everyone can agree is correct.

Good point, Andy. I hate seeing those webfinds with "Copyrighted Material" emblazoned over them.

I find it interesting that a retail site can copyright an image that doesn't belong to them.

I don;t think that the purpose of that watermark. It means that the image is copyrighted, and for them to be allowed to displayed (especially in the size they do), they watermark it.

All too often, we have user submitting Cast and Crew data for new pre-releases or a new title with no source, and it clearly comes from IMDb, not to mention unless the user sat in a theater with a notepad he can't produce the Cast and Crew from the DVD. Many users will vote yes, arguing that SOME DATA IS BETTER THAN NO DATA, which is not true, if the data does NOT follow Rules then No data is preferable to some data that is not sourced, and exposes the Online to potential issues from competitors.

Agreed.

FWIW the only time I submit cast/crew data fro pre-release items is if the release is out already somewhere else and I can get them by copying them from the entry already in the database... and even then I often check the contribution notes to see if anyone specifically said they were from the cast list on the DVD and compare to the IMDb for any obvious signs of copying.
