More and more I am in believing that it might be all those special letters which are too much for the old Windows-Standard

And I'm convinced that it's something else. Those characters appear in so many profiles that it would have been discovered long ago if they caused problems of this nature. But the only known problem is that they display incorrectly.

I believe that all contributions are processed on a first-in, first-out basis

Not necessarily. It seems that some contributions are processed automatically by a bot, while some are sent to second level screening, depending on what changes were made and if there were No-votes. Those will take longer.

So just be patient.

ProfilerMissing 1.15.0

Several minor fixes. Most importantly, there was a bug that could prevent ProfilerMissing to run. It should be fine now. Settings for HTTPJolie added.

This is really useful for finding data that is missing in your collection, if I may say so myself.

I can't believe it's been 5 years since I released the previous version of ProfilerMissing. And speaking of missing, version 1.14 seems to have been missing. Seems I never got around to releasing that.

Just request the xml from HTTPJolie.

Do we have any reason to think that that will work better than the ordinary export? I'd hate to go to all the work of creating a program only to find that it crashes the same way that export does.

Gunnar is always adding more stuff to BY Check. Nothing stops him from implementing your algorithm to build a dummy profile and use HTTPJolie to install it in the database.

Actually, I don't think I could do that, since Magmadrag cannot produce a complete export file. Not sure how to do that without the export file.

I was wrong!

Yeah, it happens. In this case I thought that birth year later than production year was an undeniable fact that something is wrong. So there would be no need to ever exclude such a profile. But as I found out when using the program, that's not always true.

Production year 1939, birth year 1966? Well, that has to be wrong, doesn't it? Actually, no. The profile in question was Mickey Mouse in Living Color 2. It's a collection of shorts with wildly varying production years, but for the profile only the oldest is used. The short "The Prince and the Pauper" is from 1990.

I guess this could happen for TV shows as well. Someone who wasn't born when the show first started could be in a later season. Not very likely, but possible.

I didn't want to rush out an update for just such a minor oversight, but rest assured it is on my to-do list.

Well, I'm impressed!
I'll have to digest this for a while, but I'll be PMing you with some ”How did you do that” questions.

BirthYearCheck 4.3

Several minor fixes and enhancement. A few a bit more important:

- For profiles that contain episode dividers, the episode(s) that the person appeared in / worked on will be shown as a tooltip, so it is easier to find the person in a potentially very long cast or crew list.

- Crew is now listed as their function rather than just "Crew". Again to make them easier to find.

- Profiles can be hidden. Practical if you have a profile that you don't want to fix right now, but want to come back to at a later time.

- When you exclude a profile it is also hidden.

- You can "unhide" hidden profiles. This will make all hidden profiles visible again. When visible again, profiles that were excluded during this run can be "unexcluded".

The birth year list is loaded from the internet every time the program is started, so it is not static.
But I guess that's not quite what you wanted. That's all I have though.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, Magmadrag. Isn't this what CastCrewCheck already does?

Edit: That should of course say BirthYearCheck. My bad. Too many tools to keep track of.

BirthYearCheck 4.2.1

The following has been changed:

- There may be more than one documentation post in the birth year thread for a specific person. When you select Documentation in Possible invalid BYs, you will be prompted which link to follow, if there is more than one.

- When selecting Search title in IMDb, the search will be made with the Original Title if there is one.

- It is now possible to Exclude profiles so they don't show up in subsequent runs of the program. This is useful for entries that are in fact correct, like birth year 1797 for Mary Shelley.

And the help file has been updated.

I'm not looking to start an argument but here an example of how tags can help. I have one that says "4K UHD & 3D in 1 case". It gets there quicker than clicking each one and the and button. But that's just me.

I agree. My point was that for just separating Blu-ray and UHD tags don't add anything. That's why I added that tags can be useful for other things.

Fully agree with others that separate databases is the least useful solution.

Using filters and saving them lets you select them really easy like this:

Creating collection categories can get you something like this:

Tags are not really useful for this purpose, because you would have to filter on tags instead of media type, so you wouldn't gain anything. That said, tags can be useful for a lot of other things.

Creating separate databases are only useful for very special purposes. I actually created one in order to take the snapshot of collection categories, because I didn't want to show my own categories as well, as that would confuse the picture. But for normal use, I don't see any reason to create separate databases.

If you need any help implementing either of the suggested solutions, please feel free to ask!

Ah, boy do I feel stupid. And I'm a retired IT guy.

If it's any consolation, I have fallen into that trap at times as well. And yes, I'm a retired IT guy too. I guess we're not as infallible as we would like to think.

Works for me. You may have to refresh your browser (usually F5).

A small update to BirthYearCheck:

I styled the datagrid a bit to make the selected row look better, and I added a context menu with links to the documentation in the birthyear thread, and to IMDb.

You can select if you want to IMDb search to be opened in the internal browser, or in your default browser. Note that in the internal browser I skip one step when a title has been selected. I go directly to the Full Cast and Crew page. So that's one click less than in the standard browser.

Get version 4.1.0 here.

Glad you like it, ObiKen. I have to admit that I was a little shocked at the number of hits in my collection. I think I'll have to update the program with links to the birthyear thread in order to make it easier to research the birth years.

BirthYearCheck 4.0

The Possible invalid BYs tag has been extensively updated.

Just FYI the download for BySpecial expires May 25 so you can't download it after that. It was never meant to be a supported program.

However, I intend to incorporate suspicious birth years in the next version of BirthYearCheck, and it will cover both cast and crew. Look for an announcement in the Plugins forum. Eventually ...

I have learned that there was a bug in SlowStarter 1.0 that could prevent the program from starting. This has been rectified, and the program has been updated so it shows its status during Windows startup.

I currently use it myself for autostarting DVD Profiler, and for delaying the start of tools  that depend on HTTPJolie så that those tools don't start before Profiler is running. For me, that means a delay of at least 15 seconds more than the delay (if any) for starting DVD Profiler.
