Quote: Mel Gibson (1956): The famous one. Actor, Producer, Director, ... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000154/ http://www.filmreference.com/film/87/Mel-Gibson.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Gibson
Mel Gibson (xxxx): Actor in Heartlands http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2153167/
It would be nice if someone who owns Heartlands could verify it is a different actor.
According to imdb this credit was just a joke: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0295303/crazycredits Is there any other source backing that up, besides this single sentence on IMDb.com? And besides: if we remove the birth year from the actual Mel Gibson, then how do you propose that we handle that particular "joke" credit in 'Heartlands'? I actually own a copy of that on DVD, and when we declare Mel Gibson's birth year as invalid, then 'Heartlands' will actually show up among the Mel Gibson credits in my database - while he obviously isn't in there. Joke credit or not: Mel Gibson (1956) never had anything to do with 'Heartlands', and I don't want it showing up when I look for titles starring Mel Gibson (1956). How do we best handle that? I mean: it may be a joke credited as "Mel Gibson", but that still makes it a one-time credit - albeit a joke - of which the "common name", so to speak, is still Mel Gibson, which needs to be separated from actual credits of the actual Mel Gibson. So I think we still need the birth year. Thoughts? | | | Last edited: by T!M |

We track also this fake credit so there's the need for a BY because it is a different (fake) person. |

| Posted: | | | | A good question how to handle this...
I personally would prefer to remove his name from the "Heartlands"-profile after a visually check that he does not appear at all, give the link to the imdb-source and let the screeners decide.
But then again, I don't mind having a birthyear for the "real" Mel Gibson, so I have no problem with the situation as it is. |

There is another Mel Gibson (BY unknown) make-up artist, make-up designer in movies like Jude, Hideous Kinky, Crust etc. See: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0317112/ |
